Has anybody done this? Can it be done? What would it cost? Any help would be awesome. |

I was talking to my old man this morning and he brought it up. He's getting a Super Glide and I told him to be one of a kind, I would install a flip screen and cd changer in it. He then says "Speaking of one of a kind, let's look into stretching the Buell." |

A Harley engine on a crouch rocket! You can't beat that. Your right, you cant. Anyway if you do the stretch at least put a motor worthy of the stretch in it. A turbo, NOS, whatever. If you stretch it and leave the motor stock, I will call you a poser!

It wouldn't be a one of a kind. There are a at least a few variations out there. And I agree with New12R, slap a turbo kit on that bitch if you are going to stretch it. Keeping it stock is just a waste. |

At least one of a kind in my area. And yeah, if a stretch it I would definitely turbo it. |

You could do a mild 2" stretch by putting on a XB12SS or similar swingarm, right? I believe those swing arms are longer. It would be a shame to put a real long swingarm on it and ruin the handling. But, hey, whatever floats your boat. Personally I think wheelies are fun. |

I'm afraid of wheelies. I can do them sure. But I'd never forgive myself if a screwed up and put the bike down. I'm not looking to go to ridiculous. Maybe the SS will do. |

Lets see, looped over backwards a few times, landed wrong-tank slapped-ditch= broken neck, and I still wheelie! If you are not looking to go crazy the SS swing arm may be the ticket, will be a little more stable at speed but you will have to modify the under tray and battery to accommodate the shock IIRC. |

There was a picture around here a while back of a black Firebolt with a very long ladder type swing arm on it. |

I've seen the SS swingarm on an R before and actually liked it! Anything longer than that tho... not so much. |

I've put my fair share of bikes down doing wheelies, but they've been dike bikes. I've broken the bones too. I should have stated I'm afraid of them on the bolt. So I'm thinking I should go with the SS. Thanks for the info guys. |

Why screw up a great design... the bike corners well left as is. If wheelies are an issue and youre gonna drag race it why not strut it and hang bars on it like a pro... that way when youre done at the track you can put the shock and spring back on, take off the wheelie bar and go run hard on mountain roads with the Jap bikes... Makes more sense to me to have a dual purpose bike that way and it costs tons less to do this and you have alot more cash to invest in something that actually makes the bike faster |

I highly doubt I'll be stretching it. I was orginally an idea by my old man. If I had a Jap bike sure, but having a Buell I don't want to screw it up. |

"If I had the funds I would stretch my Buell... I think it looks Bad Azz!" Obviously I don't wear the Buell Blinders. ...or follow years of engineering and design refinement that produce a superb HANDLING motorcycle. Just because it LOOKS bad ass doesn't mean it handles like a bad ass. POSER!! ROFLMAO. (sarcasm) (Message edited by luxor on March 21, 2008) |
