My 03 XB9S is not the bike she once was or rather what I think she should be. Yesterday on HWY 80 in NC (S Parkway and Kona Sides) I'd go into the corners at 4k in 2nd then have to shift to 3rd right after the Apex in order to continue accelerating till the next breaking point (50 ft). If I changed to the XB12 gearing how would that change the ratio between 2nd and 3rd (real world application not #'s). Maybe I just need more power (XBTT) but I've already done a race ecm, D&D, remap, open air box/K&N. Thoughts?

No I'm not a hooligan, you can teach a monkey to ride in a straight line.

probably not what you want to hear, but go into the corner in 3rd instead... you can carry enough corner speed on that thing to make up the difference.

if you are going in at 4000 you can definatly afford to shift up a gear.

I'm pretty sure you will find that you have the same gear as the 12. The City-X, XB9SX, is the only XB nine with the lower gear.

Like No_rice said go through in third, that is what torque is for.

actually all the 9's have a lower primary gearing than a 12. thats how guys gear down there 12's for more low end. a fair amount of uly guys go that route so they can have a better crawling gear in first.

if you use the 12 primary you will lose a little take off power but have a lower cruising speed. and then to figure out if your particular set up will be able to pull all the way to redline (in 5th atleast) with the new taller 12 gearing.

you definatly wouldnt be accelerating as fast as you did.

Thanks folks, I really think I just want the power from 4k up to 6k to last longer than it does. You know (Frankenbike, I want the gizmo from bike A, suspension of bike B and the looks of bike Z).
