Remus have now launched their exhaust to fit the 2008 XB12 models. Priced at exactly the same as the previous models at GBP471.49 (US$940 approx)and using the same twin silencer design, these are E marked and feature removable baffles for 'race' use. They use the All stainless construction, they are now available in a choice of 3 finishes: Chrome, Satin silver or Satin black. Available to order now from http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/240.html

What's the difference between the 2007 and 2008 XB12 models that requires a different exhaust can? |

Different header pipe diameter and layout means that ALL of the previous aftermarket exhausts will not fit the 2008 models (although full systems will still fit). Euro model XB's now have a catalytic converter as standard, so this is available as an option if people need to keep it for Euro laws. Thankfully in the UK we don't strictly need on aftermarket pipes this yet, although it is a grey area. |

How does the front of the pipe look without the chin fairing on it? Got any pictures underneath the plastic? I'm looking for a pipe that's pretty when naked... Like the Ti-Force... |

The exhaust exiting on the right has no ill effect on belt life? |

How about a dyno plot of this pipe? Sound clips? It is cool looking and I love the dual outlets on Buells. |

How does the front of the pipe look without the chin fairing on it? Got any pictures underneath the plastic? I'm looking for a pipe that's pretty when naked... We don't have any other pictures yet I'm afraid,as the exhaust was literally launched yesterday and doesn't even appear on the Remus web site yet. However it will have all the chin spoiler brackets firmly welded to the pipes, so if you wanted to run it 'naked' you would have to take an angle grinder to it to remove the bracketry. It should look very similar to the existing model shown below. The biggest difference will be in the front pipes and collector area.
The exhaust exiting on the right has no ill effect on belt life? None at all as far as I am aware. The Buell race kit pipe exited in the same way and we have sold a lot of the 2002-2007 Remus exhausts which are similar. We have never heard any reports of belt failure caused by the exhausts. why did buell change the exhaust? do the new ones make any more power or have a better curve? would changeing the headers on my 03 have any benifit? Interesting point, and one that would need one of the Anony's to answer I'm afraid. I would be interested to know how they have increased the rev limit and made other internal engine mods without any increase in power or torque according to official figures? I would have expected to see even a small increase in bhp & torque figures, and I am looking forward to seeing some comparitive dyno charts of 2007 & 2008 models. How about a dyno plot of this pipe? Sound clips? Nothing yet I'm afraid. (Message edited by trojan on December 20, 2007) |

Let me start by saying.. I could be mistaken. Now... I thought I read where the header change is only for the Euro models. |

I thought I read where the header change is only for the Euro models. You may be correct, as the Buell web site seems to show different headers than we get on the 2008 models. I tried asking Buell UK, but they knew nothing about it (surprise, surprise!). If the US models have retained the same headers as the 2007 models then the existing mufflers should still fit. |

The 08 US models have the same muffler and header part numbers as before. Not so for the Euro models. Al |

Thanks Al, so there you have it, the definitive answer. Just to confuse matters further, the Euro model XB9SX also has the 2007 pattern headers/silencers. |

The new XB header and muffler are specific those markets where a catalyst is used to meet regulatory requirements. It is a common system to both engine displacements. It appears Remus has offered a version of their muffler to fit the new header for those markets. |

Good to see that the black system seems to incorporate chamfered tailpipes which should solve the grounding problems with the old system, however the smaller picture of the chrome/stainless system seems to have straight cut tail pipes? |

Anon, The euro headers seem to be a little more seperated and pehaps a different length of primary. Equal length perhaps? |

940 dead presidents (plus shipping I assume) is a lot to pay for a muffler! Does it do any tricks?? LOL |

Does it do any tricks?? LOL Yes, it will find its own way to your doorstep shortly after you pay for it ;) Oh of course it will also make your Buell sound a LOT better |

Does it have an valve for use with the stock ECM or does it require the Buell Race ECM? |

Does it have an valve for use with the stock ECM or does it require the Buell Race ECM? It does not have the valve (nor do any of the aftermarket pipes as far as I know) but can still be used with the stock ECM. Just disconnect the operating cable from the servo motor, but leave the servo motor connected to the ECM so you don't get an engine warning light. Alternatively just fit one of our exhaust servo emulators and you can remove the servo motor completely. |

I like the look, and would bet that I would like the sound. But at over 900 plus shipping,,, Why?? When you can buy a micron full exhaust or a Odie or Drummer for less, and they do sound good and add to the power. Go figure |

Yeah, that's the problem. Every single one of the aftermarket mufflers American Sport Bike carries is too damned loud (AFAIC). The quieter "E-certified" mufflers from Europe (sold by Trojan) are twice as expensive. I suspect if they were ever carried by an American distributer the price would come down and match the loud ones we have in price but right now your only choice for a non-aggravating exhaust is to stick with the OEM muffler, or pay through the nose to import one from Europe. |

nor do any of the aftermarket pipes as far as I know Termignoni has a valve exhaust, who is working very nice still in need of some tuning FI tuning with the stock ECM, but with a working valve to boost the TQ a little
available in inox, aluminium and Titanium for optimal weight saving |

I have the Termi as well. I really like it, sounds good and gave the Uly more top end. With it on there the bike will pull HARD to red line in 5th! I've seen 135 mph indicated on the speedo with about 1.5K left before redline but I had to back off due to traffic. Gotta love the autobahn I was asking about the new Remus because I thought that they did have a valve at one time. |

I wish someone would import that Termignoni exhaust to the US. How hard could it be for the the US shops?? Every frakin Ducati around has Termignoni pipes on them. |

Let's just say that my bike runs real well. I want to get a GPS verified speed which is a bit more difficult do to the size of the display on my GPS unit. |
