I have a few questions on a 2004 XBS 1200 and a 2007 XBS 1200 comparison:

1. Will a 2007 1200 engine with all components and swingarm plug into a 2004 frame and wiring harness?

2. Are the steering heads the same? Can I put the 2007 forks and trees on the 2004 frame?

3. Are there any differences in the rear axle and wheel? Will the 2004 wheel and axle fit the 2007 swingarm?

4. Are there any differences in the rear shock, drive belt or pulleys?

Thanks in advance.

Should fit, they only changed internals on the newer models.

Are the steering heads the same? Can I put the 2007 forks and trees on the 2004 frame?

Again, they should fit

Are there any differences in the rear axle and wheel? Will the 2004 wheel and axle fit the 2007 swingarm?

The wheels are the same but the swingarms are different, I dont know if the axles are the same or not.

Are there any differences in the rear shock, drive belt or pulleys?

Belt has been upgraded but will fit 04 pulleys, and as far as I know the pulleys are the same, check the angles on the idler tho. I am unsure on the shock but they look the same to me.

Hope that helps.

Why are you asking, you got a bad frame on an 07 and found an 04 cheap??

I think the forks are a different diameter.

Yes, fork are different diameter, you will need to change the lower triple tree, the upper stays the same.

I own a 2004 and bought a 2007 with a bad frame. I was 99% sure it would work so I got it.
I’m replacing the swingarm, because it looks so dang good, just a few light scratches.
I want to keep the amber wheels and if the wheels are the same then I’m assuming I just need to keep the axles with their respected swingarm. Hmmm, better check the front axle.
So far I got:
The engine will bolt and wire right up.
Swingarm with axle will swap.
Only the lower tree needs to be swapped with the forks, the upper is optional.
Thanks, guys, keep the info coming.

Won't the 04 frame have an extra intake hole in the frame?

Yes, but that will only reduce his fuel capacity from the 07. The 07 inner airbox is not open at the hole to allow the air in.
