How is it ridiculous to warn someone that Teflon tape should not be used on straight threads and that it can, on rare occasions, clog oil journals? What's ridiculous is someone with a ten thousand dollar motorcycle using Teflon tape rather than spending a quarter on the factory-speciofied O-ring when he does an oil change.

I agree though after spending a 1/2 hour at the counter of my local ummm (sigh) dealership as they failed to find the correct O-ring on their computer I could see how someone might be driven to the world of "friction activated sealant technology"!

*SIDEBAR*

I always use a new O-ring when changing the fluids. My current batch of O-rings were sourced from the local NAPA dealer -- took one of the old ones in and ordered a big honking plastic bin full of them. The same NAPA store ordered me some muffler clamps for the tubers -- they're not 5-Star branded, but work great, look the same, cost much less than HD pricing too.

How much more successful would this guy be if he only took your advice and used teflon tape instead of duct tape?

"Before he could make his getaway, though, a Shamrock Liquors employee, Craig Miller, tackled him in the store’s parking lot. Miller and several other men who came running over from the Foodland store next door detained Kazee until the police arrived."

If that's detaining, I'd hate to see Subduing!

I wonder just how that dude planned on getting the duct tape out of his hair? And looks like he was having to breath through his mouth... definitely not the brightest.

Good entertainment for the rest of us, though!
