Wantxbr, Good comments. Geico told me today to find a similar helmet and let them know. They'll pay for it (up to $400). I paid $290 in '00 for the Shoei, but they want me to have one of similar quality. Nice. Geico is handling the repairs and will bill Progressive later.

Progressive's medical adjuster will come next week to deal with my "pain and suffering". Any tips to help me not get snookered by a low-ball quote?

The HD/Buell shop has excellent people who inspect the bikes. Usually their word is accepted as the correct one, with negotiation of course with the insurance companies.

To get help with a low ball offer I would still seek the advise of a lawyer. You can call setup an appointment and simply ask what he/she thinks you should get all without hiring one. Then when the medical adjuster comes you can mention that youve spoken to (insert lawyers name) and he feels $xxxx is resonable due to neglet from your driver. I'm sure then the negotiations start. In my previous post I'm not saying that you shouldn't get money for the accident. I think some may have taken the post wrong. Like if the mailman sliped walking down my path to the mailbox and scrapes his knees he's entiltled to my house and 1/2 my salary for the next 10 years thats BS. You on the other hand prolly lost time from work, had property damage and I'm sure plenty of pain and u should be compensated for that. I hope things go well.. And i hope ur healing good. And have fun helmet shopping... : )

Anyways perhaps should be in another thread but I don't believe that if an honest person makes an honest mistake he should pay for it with everything he has or will have for the next 10 years

The old lady that I t-boned might be a good person. BUT I AM THE ONE who still has nerve damage on my left arm, phatom pain in my left upper back, the TFCC ligament in my right arm will wear down and require another surgery, on cold days I can feel that plate in my arm......

No I didn't sue her. Her insurance company did pay out. Had she choosen NOT to buy a SAFE amount of insurance coverage then that was HER CHOICE and HER GAMBLE.

-------------------------------------

Either buy the correct amount of insurance or take the gamble that your assets could be taken away if you cause bodly harm to another person.

Don't get a lawyer. Be calm and Be smart.

A lawyer will get 25-33% off of the TOP settlement amount,. Then he will subtract medical bills, your bike, and any other office expense he has. All the scamming ass snake will do it what you can do. Wait for an offer. These scum bags on a simple case like your will not bother taking it to trial.

Trials are used for suing high dollars companies like greyhound or UPS drivers.

Let your insurance company handle it if they will. If not each and every time you talk or email the other company insurance adjuster write down the date and time and a short description of what you'll talked about,.

Be carefull when talking. Becuase they can and will use stuff againts you. "sir, was there anything you could have done to avoid the accident" my reply was I guess I could have taken a different route.

-----

Each state has a department or Commission that controls and regulate the insurance companies and the adjusters. After a long time of dealing with my adjuster and polite and detailed email to the Insurance Commisioner explaining the delay tatics used. I recieved an settlement offer in the full amount that the old bat had purchased.

------------

It sound like your not injured so your claim will go real smooth. But please ensure that you have no injuries. Give your body a few days to let you know something could be wrong. Took me over a month to figure out then another few weeks to get a stupid doctor to refer me out. Torn ligaments in my wrist and now I;ve got a plate.
