Is the spring actually shorter in the cg compared to the S or have the forks just been dropped through the yokes (trees). Just interested as i've a customer who needs a LOW bike and has an XB12S

It's a shorter spring. The valving is different as well.
If I remember correctly, it's also a dual rate spring to compensate for its shortness where as the standard longer spring is a single rate spring.
