Does anybody seem to have a problem with a small miss at any rpm.. particulary the lower end?
Its not anything horrible.. just gets annoying.
It seems to happen about every 5-10 seconds crusing at 3500 in 5th gear.
This is on a '04 XB-12 with K&N, and Special OPS pipe.
Thanks for looking!

Have you reset the TPS after the filter and exhaust? If not have it done by someone who knows what their doing and it should be fine.

When you talk about any RPM and Lower End in the same sentence I get confused. I would like to know the throttle position. If it's at a low TP and at any rpm below 4K it could be a lean condition caused by an intake leak. The AFV would start to creep and what you would hear is a lean misfire. Plug wires go bad on these following a plug change it it's the older style wire. Just some simple things to think about. ... Terry

My stock bike sputters and skips at very low RPMs - such as when pulling out or moving at 10MPH in traffic.

The ECM moves the bike from open loop "warm-up fuel" to closed loop as soon as the 02 sensor comes up to temp. Sometimes it's way before the engine is up to temp at 250+ degrees. If you are still in stop and go traffic it is driving the A/F to 14.7 (Normal, but Lean) before the engine is warm enough to run smoothly. ... Terry

That "miss" is as Al says, "the reason your bike can get 50 plus MPG on the highway".

Its not truely a miss, it is the O2 sensor swinging the fuel mixture from lean to rich (attaining a stable, per say, aprox. 14.7 to 1)and as such, you can more sence then feel the change, thats ALL!!

Click down a gear and ride at 4000 for a bit, and you will see it does it too, just quicker.

Just FYI, I have had all kinds of starting/idling/missing/popping problems since last fall and finally got the problem solved. My front plug was black as can be, rear was fine. Turns out that the #1 ignition wire to the ECM (front cyl.) had rubbed a hole against the bottom of the shock reservoir and was grounding out. All my issues are gone, bike runs like a BEAST! Check all your wires to the ecm, wiring gremlins are a major PITA.

The 3K miss is "on the edge" and it as has been pointed out that it is the reason for great MPG. For you dyno folks, just for kicks run 3K in fifth gear at 9-12 TPS and watch the front spark advance channel. The numbers were amazing on my Uly!
