Hey guys, I posted in KV, but no answers. Quick question. I just installed my CRG levers on my CityX and the install was super smooth, 15 minutes to do both sides, but it seems to me that the CRG levers fit a tad looser than stock (there is a little bit of up and down play). Is this normal? --Sean | ||

Mine do the same thing. I think it's normal. I have had them on for over a year, and it has not gotten worse. | ||

I just made some measurements on the levers and perch. The CRG and the stock levers both came in with a .315 blade thickness, the perch came in at about .336" The CRG's, being adjustable, have a second pivot on them. So there is likely a tiny amount of play on those, but they're pretty tight. The other part of it should be about the same as stock, though. Al | ||

So I have been thinking of getting CRG levers particularly for the possibility of the shorty style and the adjustability of the clutch side. I have the power clutch mod for ease of lever pull. Does anyone use the shortys. I think I would be dissapointed in spending the cash and having a less than perfect fit. The stock ones have more up down play than I like, maybe machine a spacer for the lever perch? | ||

I was surprised at the loose tolerances on my shorty CRGs, too. I don't notice it on the road really but I expected better. I still like them alot. | ||

Couldn't you use a thin washer to tighten them up a bit if it bother you? | ||

I have the shorty CRGs and like them alot! I also like not having to worry much about them being damaged in a layover as compared to a longer lever. I took some of the up/down play out by removing them and using a clamp (or channel locks, etc) to squeeze the perch tabs together. You must be VERY careful not to go too far or you'll break a tab! | ||

I use shim stock (stainless steel sheet) when this happens...drill a hole for the pivot bolt and tin snips to shape the spacer. Then sand it down on a flat surface until it is the right thickness. This is has worked well each time...including with my CRG shorties. (Message edited by lovematt on May 02, 2007) |
