Took delivery today of my '07 12r. (Only had 2 miles on the odo.)

Took it out for about 20 miles this afternoon and I noticed that at idle (and fully warmed up), it's idling steady at 1k - not the 1050-1150 range listed in the manual. Otherwise, the engine seemed to be running normally.

My question - should I go ahead and adjust the idle up a notch or should it be ok leaving it where it's at?

Unless it really becomes an issue (surging, dying, etc) I'd leave it alone and just mention it to them when you have your 1k service.

They may have to adjust it as part of doing the TPS reset, which is a required part of the 1k service.

Note: The 1k service should run you about $125-$150.

Should be fine. Mine runs at the same and only has some issues with the idle when its cold out. They are alittle cold blooded regardless if the idle is correct or not

I don't think the tach on the bike is accurate enough to show +-100rpm difference. You'll need the HD tech tool or TechnoResearch diagnostic tool to get the accurate assessment.

Quick update... I was talking to a Buell mechanic today (he used to work in R&D at Buell). He agreed that the bike probably had not been set up correctly and the idle was a little low. However, he also said that it might have been set that way intentionally as the idle tends to climb up a little as the engine goes through break-in. (He wasn't the one that set up my Firebolt.) He went on to say that at the 1k mile service, the engine could very well be idling a little north of 1150. Anyway, no big deal. I'm taking delivery of a 12SS tomorrow and he was doing the set up on it when I was in there. It looked to be idling pretty steady at 1100 with the engine running stone cold.
