I'm sure most people will blow this off as a tacky and probably poor-quality product, but it's an interesting idea. Most of the images actually don't look half bad. Wonder what my Sunset Orange Ss would look like with red tires on my red wheels?

There's a GSX-R400 ratbike that's sometimes parked near my workplace with blue Tomahawks. It would be difficult to find a more tacky, hideous or visually offensive product to fit to any motorcycle.

They are far, far worse than those stick-on bishop's ears or red mohicans.

12r... didn't know what you were comparing them to, so I had to look them up.

Gotta' disagree with you on the Bishops ears. NOTHING is tackier than that!

On a nice, new bike, they don't look out of place. The pics on the link above have tires that match the race colors, so they blend in really well. I would imagine that, yes, on a beat up piece of crap bike, blue tires would look pretty bad!

These've been discussed here before. Aren't they essentially retread tires??

The colour wears off after a few miles and/or becomes contaminated with road crap. The chicken strips turn to a pastel shade of the original colour.

I always wondered why tire manufacturers haven't offered tires in colors. Opinions aside, I can see this being popular with the automotive "Tuner" crowd.

Is it just too expensive to manufacture them this way, or does the color affect the compound in way that would be detrimental to tire performance?

Either the silver or orange ones (couldn't really tell what color they were supposed to be) w/ at least 3k miles where on my XB when I bought it. They looked like crap and everyone would ask me what is wrong with my tires.

Cereal, you couldn't tell if they were silver or orange? Care to clarify that a bit?

Just so ya know, I'm not really interested in these, I just thought they looked interesting. I've just started breaking in my Conti Road Attacks, so I've got a LONG way to go before I look at new tires. Even then, I'm a safety nut, and I don't know if I could ever bring myself to trust an oddball tire like this with my life!

I noticed the thing about them being retreaded. Wonder why in the world they use that process, rather than making full new tires? Could it be that much cheaper to manufacture?

The side walls and chicken strip looked a little orangish but the rest of tread almost looked gray. So I don't know if it was orange and faded, or if it was silver. Either way, two thumbs down.

I saw the blue ones on an XB, I have to be honest here, it looked cool. Performance is all that matters though, after safety.

I read some articles from their site. The general consensus seems to be that the tires provide pretty average dry grip, not so great wet grip, and handle like sandbags due to their excessive weight. Funny that they post not-so-flattering articles on their own site!

I'd highlight the lettering and that would be it for me. I wonder how these look when they get dirty and a little worn.

Tuber lurking here...

I have the tomahawk T1s in black on my M2. No problems so far in the first ~500 miles, up to 110mph. I do think the front tire is a little taller than my stock dunlops.

I only paid about $129 shipped off of ebay for the pair.

Here are some pics of mine so you guys know what happens to these tires after a while. The black lines were caused by a recent burnout in the rain. They weren't usually there.

If mine were ever orange, then they sure don't hold their color well.

I can see the issue with something like the grey tires... those orange seem to look pretty good.. I'd be interested in tryin a pair of those on my x9

I've been biting my tongue on this thread to not say anything disparaging...

But, Sailfish, those orange skins, actually, do, look good on that bike

I personally think they look hideous, but that's just my opinion.

Different strokes for different folks!

I remember riding with Cereal a few months back, weren't the treads on the front also a problem?

Why not make translucent ones like on skateboards & rollerblades?

Whoa, Sailfifh, that looks utterly bizarre! But not in a bad way, just so different I can't quite comprehend it.

How do they handle for you? Most reviews claim the front tires are darn heavy.

Oh, and Cereal, I have a theory on your lightly-orange tinted tires. It looks to me like they're probably silver, but something may have stained part of them, like maybe red clay. That would show up really well on such a light colored tire... I've seen it stain whitewall tires on cars pretty bad. They greyish stuff around the sidewall looks like it's probably just road grime. Have you tried any Bleech White on it?

I would have to agree. They were so cheap I wanted to give them a try instead of just yelling "RE-TREADS you will Die" like most seem to do. I suppose they do what they are supposed to do, and they are much improved over my almost bald Dunlops: )

But for a little more $ next time I will get some Pirellis.

If there were some orange accents on that bike, the tires wouldn't look that bad. It would still look better all black.
