I just installed an LSL that mounts under the steering head on a friends 12SCG. Works great as far as I can tell. |

Did you have to drop the forks a little on the cg? Just wondering because of the reduced clearance between the fender & steering head compared to the standard height S. |

I have a Storz on mine. It seems to work OK , but I hav'nt compared to any other types. Side note - they look funky and everybody will ask, "What in the hell is THAT!!!" Side note #2 - Do not over tighten the clamp! |

The LSL fits under the steering head. Some users have reported that it hits the front fender. I have seen evidence of this. It is important to mount it properly, so that the body of the damper is behind the isolator bolt, as shown :
I do not know for sure if this solved the problem. I believe that LSL recommend that the fork be dropped to solve this problem, and I don't believe that it is a good idea to change the geometry of these bikes without a great deal of forethought. I use an Ohlins in a side mount configuration. This has proven very satisfactory, as the Ohlins is a very good, gas charged unit. I had to make the mounts myself. The front mount is a part from Attack.
Although Storz deny it, the Storz can also be mounted facing backward, if one makes some simple mounts to fit on the engine, as in the case of the Ohlins |

Yep, if they don't have a mount for yours, make your own!

That's a unique installation Rich. Any photos from the front? Is that an LSL damper? |

It's a cheap Ted's Cycle/Vtwin damper. Paul, I put the 12V socket in there to power my long lost GPS. |

Those scotts are some nice dampers! In order to put one on the buells it would take some fancy modifications to achieve a clean look and make it function properly. I would like to see it done for those who dare accept the challenge... |

I use the Storz side mount. EVERY time I've fallen, it has cost a minimum of $100 for repairs. Get the under-the-stem like LSL. Much better when you do fall. |

I'm running the LSL dampener on my 05 XB12Scg. It did in fact catch the back of my fender causing the front of it to drag on the tire for about 30 miles. I figured out what was happening when I pulled up to a light and saw all the smoke coming off my front tire and fender. That was pretty freakin dangerous in my book. What if that 208 had popped while I was blasting down the highway dragging my fender on the tire causing all kinds of heat. It melted over an inch of the fender. Anyway, Dave fixed me up with a few front fender and I turned the clamp counterclockwise (looking down at it) as far as the joint attached to the end of the dampener would allow and slipped the dampener several inches toward the right side of the bike so it wouldn't run out of room turning lock to lock. I did not lower my forks in the clamps so as not to jack with my suspension setup. I have had no further problems with it since I made these adjustments. Otherwise, I like the smooth action it has and the confidence inspiring way it handles any head shakes accelerating hard out of turns. |

Tx05xb12s, Thanks for chiming in on the cg install. This is good to know because I have a cg as well and have been toying with the idea of the LSL damper but always assumed it would be bad due to the shorter distance between fender & neck. This little tid bit might be enough to topple me off the fence I'm sitting on |

That's a good price. I got mine before anyone sold them here. I got mine from England and I remember it was over $400 |

I have an LSL damper, it came with no hardware. Is there anywhere I can get the hardware to use it on my XB? Thanks in advance. |

I can probably help out. Call me next Weds when I get back to work and I'll see what I can come up with for you. |

Tom: I think you'd be ok with the LSL on your cg. You just have to deviate from the installation instructions a little. The equipment does work well once you have it adjusted properly to clear the fender to facilitate extreme fork travel. Plus, you can run the right hand air scoop with the LSL, not to mention it looks a lot better tucked in under the steering head. The Storz model eliminates the opportunity to use the scoop due to both using the same mounting point on the bike. You may like the look of this model better. To each his own. I prefer a little more refined/factory option look (for this particular piece), and I think the LSL facilitates this the better out of the two. Dave is offering an excellent price on his LSL. I would recommend taking him up on it. I've got pics of what mine looks like the way it is mounted if anyone wants to see them. |

When I get the ol' Summer bonus I just might get one. Now the only thing keeping me on the fence is the fact that I'm not sure if I really need one. I got the suspension set pretty good so it's not really twitchy at all except for when I hit the occasional mid corner bump while gassing her hard. |

Here's a few shots of my LSL install. Note the fork clamp turned so the inside of the clamp doesn't catch the fender anymore.
