Thanks for posting that.

Any idea what the white panels at the back are? Saddlebags? Faux number plates?

take off the number plates and it's just a lightning long uly hybrid which I believe has already been done by some people.

Is this the CityX 1203 or is that coming too?

What is the real difference?

I'm not saying I don't like it, but it just seems a subtle shading of what is already available.

After looking at the specs to me it is a XB12SS with ulysses suspension, number plates and handguards.

Hmmm.

Looks like another "parts bin special". How many more combinations of frame, engine and plastics do they have left to release?

Not impressed.

Also note no passenger footpegs and very different seat from previous XB's. Seat height is 0.4" lower than 2007 Ulysses.

Whats between the seat and the subframe? Thats a lot of space down there.

And is that front head different? Or the front motor mount?

I'm not sure it's a base hit, more a case of fouling it off into the stands.

I hope these are stop gap releases to try and keep people interested and grab some sales while they work on something truly new.

Yeah, they are about a year too late with the white flyscreen. Couldn't wait and had to paint mine along time ago. See profile for pics. Pure tinting white, nothing comes close to the brightness. Not to mention I would rather see the STT in a 9 platform, something with some revs.

Daves, if that seat fits a Lightning Long how soon can I get one?

Every time Buell releases another "boring" XB model, I'm thrilled 'cause it affords more interchangeable stock parts to mod my present ride to my liking.

I'm all for Buell producing the next big thing, but think there's a lot of potential (subtle as it may seem) in the current platform. I'm sure Buell is listening and will provide in due time.

I can see it filling a slot for a slightly lower Uly or a taller CityX. Now if you are vertically challenged you have a middle sized choice, larger than the CityX, smaller than the Uly.

It's not radical, but it does give a choice. The problem is that now there is yet another nuance not another model. Dealers are already loathe to carry the models available. I would be surprised if it makes it to the floor only at the cost of another model. Seems that most places only put three or four on the floor. The rest get relegated to a dark corner in the back.

What are the chances that you would see:

Blast
XB9R
XB12R
XB12S
XB12SS
XB12Scg
XB9S
XB9SX
XB12X

and the XB12STT on the showroom floor at the same time in any other dealership other than Dave Stueve's?

And we aren't even talking about different colors.

I like it. I could do with out the number side plates but overall, I'm liking it.
An Ss long/Uly hybrid that's factory is a great idea.
Folks who want more suspension travel for crapy roads but don't want the height of the Uly nor have of need hard luggage now have a great option.
I think Mr. Buell is on the right track. The goodies just keep trickling down the pipe line.
I'm sure this is just one micro sized piece of the big picture. I can't wait to see what (if anything) is in store for the Firebolt.

On Edit: If I didn't still owe 7K on my 12Scg I'd trade it in for one of those right now. It's the perfect West Marin bike. Long suspension travel like the Uly but more sport/twisty capable like the Ss. What's not to like? (beside the number plates : ))

Harley is the master of spin off variations of an existing platform. Works for them and I'm more convinced now than before that HD has a fair amount of say in the direction of Buell. I think the "s" should stand for "Scrambler". I like it.

I would be interested to see how much water and crud the number plates will help to keep off of your back in the rain. It might be nice for foul weather riding

The white on this bike was created to have it custom painted. I went down to my dealer picked up the pamphlet on it. They are actually going to give the consumer the option to have HD paint it. The brochure actually says that the white body work is ready for customization. My thoughts..... I'll keep mine.

It's a Uly for solo riders who don't need to carry much. I don't think my wife would approve.
