LOL, I'm still laughing about it! Me and a buddy on his 2001 Triumph TT600 were heading from Leeman to Shiocton on Hwy187 when I got clocked by a cop doing 100mph coming into a corner on 187. I was far enough ahead of my buddy that he was able to slow down before he was caught on radar. But the cop got me and my conscience made me stop and not keep on going in an area where a car would have never been able to keep up. I've had my XB12s for 5 months now and had never felt so confident on it before this happened. The cop wrote it up for 84mph and let me walk, keeping my license. Life's a bitch. I'm not going to worry about it or fight it, I'll just pay the ticket and be done with it.

You took one for the team.

Says a lot about you that you are taking responsibility for your actions.
I hope the Judge sees this and uses his discretion. The cop obviously did.

Your buddy owes you one for playing "rabbit" for him though.
Don't let him forget it ;)

I call them "meat". When I cruise the interstate, I let them lead until the detector goes off. Then I cut them loose to the "wolves"!

It sounds like you had fun doing it. Kudos for eating the ticket.

I had a police officer give me the same break, once. When he gave me the ticket, I had a big smile on my face... I knew I wasn't going to jail.

Thanks, Mr Policeman, where ever you are.

You are lucky, down here 100mph seems to be the cut-off for the "going to jail", outcome. It's tough sitting in the back seat watching some tow driver holding a chain and scratching his head, just before doing the same to your bike. Been there done that, "in a universe a long, long time ago."

A guy I have ridden with a couple of times in my area recently lost his license for 90 day, got fined $300 and spent 10 days in jail for doing 90 in a 65mph zone. The LEO and prosecutor tried to get him a lighter sentence but the judge must have been having a bad day.

Yeah, a day later, and I'm still in good spirits about the whole thing. I can honestly say that yesterday was the most fun I've ever had on any motorcycle in my life. My buddy on the Triumph said I was on fire, he could hardly keep up. Any other day, I'd be following him and I'd have a hard time keeping up to him.

He said he's going to post the story on a Triumph site saying that he caught up to a Buell Lightning in the twisties, but only after the Buell got stopped for doing 100mph.

I actually saved his ass by taking the fall, because his license is suspended and he probably would have been arrested and his bike would have been towed.

Buell- "Own the Corners!"

Oooops, Boy am I glad I didn't see any cops this weekend. I exceded 120 a couple times and tended to be almost tripling the posted corner speeds leading some guys on a ride Sunday. I think I scared em. I know I confused them. The guy with the ZRX1100R was really curious about what I've done to my bike. I kept having to say not much.

I'm too chicken to run over 100. Not because of the speed but because of the law.

That being said, the Uly hits the rev limiter in 3rd somewhere above 95.

Done the Ton a number of times on my Wide Glide and really enjoyed it.

Best way I know of to passively develop Six Pack Abs.

10 DAYS IN JAIL!?! Jesus Christ. That would suck, I always figure that's about cruising speed.. Maybe that's why Im on the verge of losing my license.

I would never go over 100. That's illegal. I try to keep it around 97-98...with all my gear on of course...constantly monitoring my belt for premature breakage.

Yeah we thought it was kinda harsh but the judge wouldn't give an inch on the sentencing. The last time I rode with these boys I was doing WOT in sixth gear on I64 trying to keep up while riding a SV650S. My GPS read a top speed of 132mph. Needless to say thats the last time I rode with them because I like my license and my insurance rates.

I have had the XB12SS up to 123mph, according to the GPS, but I felt like the wind was going to rip me off the back of the bike. We'll see if the Uly windscreen helps any.

10 Days in jail...

Anyone remember the Tom T. Hall 1970 classic, A Week In A Country Jail? Check out the lyrics:

I think of him every time I have hot bologna, eggs and gravy for breakfast. Knowing that Tom and Clayton Delaney are doing the best acoustic jams up there...

Is a buell capable of escaping a police car? Buells as a whole have pretty wimpy top speeds. A 2006 honda accord V-6 will run one down. What do you guys think?

A V6 Accord will do 135?

It's not the speed of the cop car you have to worry about usually, it's the speed of the radio in the cop car.

I think it would depend on the road and the cop driving the car. Here in the semi boondock wilds of Wisconsin they don't bother chasing you because the good roads are twisty enough that a good rider can run away and hide according to a local sheriff.
