The drummer on my 9 is the last one Kevin made with the fatlet- I consider it a collectors item

i'm thinking of running my drummer (or spec ops) in a stock configuration for a while (ie, without the race ecm or filter) does anyone have a good experience with this? according to both Kevin at drummer, and Odie at spec ops, i should have no problems, but who here is actually running it in this configuration? also, how easy/difficult was the removal and attachment of the muffler? thanks again to all for all the great input!

Apparently the stock ECM is able to learn how to deal with either muffler. I say apparently because I have not tried it, but I would take Odie or Kevin's advice in the matter.

As far as the difficulty of changing out the mufflers goes, it is rather simple. Following the directions in the shop manual is pretty straight forward. It's a half hour job for someone who knows how to do it. Might take an hour or two the first time you try it.

You do have the shop manual right? If not, give Daves a call, 920 757 1651, one of our sponsors, right away. Don't want to be messing with your motorbike without the instructions.

Alternatively, Kevin has some pretty good instructions on his site, no illustrations though.

Three small details.
1. You don't really need to remove the belt tensioner if you can get a socket through the holes of the tensioner pulley on to the rear bands that hold the back of the muffler on.
2. Replacing the bands that hold the muffler on goes a lot easier if you have an assistant to hold the units in place while you fasten them.
3. As with most fasteners on the Buell, don't forget to use the medium strength, (blue), Locktite or similar thread locker.

I have the Special Ops pipe on my 12R right now. It sounds loud and mean to me. I love the mean but I'm not a big fan of the loud. I will be changing it out for the Drummer CF as soon as it is available. Besides the fact that it is a little too loud for me, I love the performance of the Special Ops pipe. I had the Original Drummer on my 9S and loved the sound and performance of that pipe.

I have had the original drummer on my uly for about 4 weeks now. Stock filter and ecm. Honestly, I haven't noticed much difference in performance but the sound is incredible. The only reason I did it this way was due to the backorder of race ecm's at the "dealer" and I had some down time to send the muffler to kevin. The race ecm and air filter should be in next week and I expect to feel the difference in performance at that time!! By the way, hello to all, long time lurker, finally felt I had something useful to contribute.
