Ok, this could be a stupid question, but has anyone tried putting a 190 rear tire on their XB?

on my second diablo 190. works just fine and yes i corner hard. just got back from the dragon and didnt miss a beat.

one thing i did notice was that the other buells i saw running around with stock sizing on had no chicken strips on the back tire and a rather large one on the front( saw it on two bikes) mine were more evenly worn front and back. not sure why that is or if anyone else has noticed similar things. just been kind of been in the back of my mind since my trip there.

Do you think there'd be a problem with my belt guard? I noticed the lower belt guard on my '06 is pretty close to my stock tire. That is the only thing I am concerned with. Also, what size do you use? 190/55 or 190/50? I'm hoping my stock tires will last me until the Pilot Power 2CT tires come out in the US.

I'm sure my bike is one of the bikes you were referring to No_Rice. I have wondered the same thing as well. I cannot get rid of the chicken strips up front no matter what I do. I always assumed it had something to do with my riding style but I really do not know.

So does anyone know if a 190 tire will fit on an XB with the '06 belt guards?

I use a 190 section Supercorsa Pro on track it works really well and clears the belt guards OK but once it gets really hot the clearance is pretty minimal - my bike is 03 so I can't comment on later models. I don't think there is any real benefit in using a 190 section I only use it because I get part used race tyres free and the Supercorsa pro is a great tyre.

I've done about 900 miles on my 2CTs and they're very good, although it's debatable whether they're actually any better than the std Pilot Power for normal road riding. The 2CTs have those uber-cool MotoGP lateral stripes, which unfortunately wear off after about 400m but they look good when they're new.

Michelin advised me that the centre compound is exactly the same on both tyres but the 2CT is 20% softer on the shoulders. Although it's still early days, the 2CTs are retaining their profile as they wear; IIRC the triangular profile of my previous set of std Pilot Powers looked distinctly 'blunt' after a comparable mileage.

12r you bring up another question I had. Does anyone know when the 2CTs are going to be available in the US?

You could ask Michelin 2wheelinfo@uk.michelin.com - I've always found them to be very helpful.

Alternatively you could try www.demon-tweeks.co.uk if you really want some

If I had to find differences between the 2CTs and the std Powers, I'd say the 2CTs feel really good when you flick the bike from one side to the other above 50 mph and they warm up very quickly. Traction, as you'd expect, is exemplary and they inspire great confidence in the rain as well as in dry conditions. Otherwise they're pretty much the same - it's nothing like changing from (for example) D207s to std Pilot Powers.

What about the side closest to the belt on the 12`s .looks kinda of close as stock 180. ?? Any difference in handling and what air presures are ya running still 38 and 36 up front?
Will the 50 versus the 55 make it closer to the belt?

i have some pics of the tire at the dragon on the comp at home so i will try and remember to post some later.

just felt like taking the hugger off. dont really care for it. not sure i care for it off either though. the new look is kind of growing on me though so i might leave it off.

not sure about belt guard clearance. neither of my XB's belt guards have lasted past its first trip into the garage when i got home with them.

as far as air pressure, i am way off from what you guys seem to be running. i just ran 33 front and back on my trip to the dragon a couple weeks ago and had excellent results as far as i'm concerned. handled awesome. and it came back in one piece.

I don't get it. Why put a bigger/heavier/more-expensive ill-fitting rear tire on your bike if you don't have too? Please explain. What am I missing here?

AS long as it Don`t change the Handling where talking Street here not the TRack riding,& I mean by that pushing the limits, then I`m sure there will be those that say it does affect the handling on the street and those that say it won`t, guess its how hard ya push it on the street, Now would a 200 Not be say Going to Far even for the street..
Now I know that makes no sense LoL...

I wondered about using a 190 also. By the looks of the pic the sidewall seems about normal from that angle.

Now ...Wd. a 190 tend to rear more in the center or...
Less air pressure wd. it wear more on the center or less, now this is a ? for either the 180 or the 190 all other things being equal of course?

it fits my bike great! is only about 3/8 wider and i actually can get them cheaper and they are more plentiful. most of the imports use a 190 therefore they are instock all the time and usually cheaper since often i can get a package deal on FRONT & REAR for barely over $225 with tax. i cant hardly order myself a 180 diablo rear through harley for much less than that.

as far as weight i am really curious of the actual difference between a 180 & 190 diablo. i have been making some calls and trying to find out...
