I've seen a few places that offer 'stunt' gearsets for the XB belt drive (not sure which 'model' belt)

Given that I'm using my cityX as something of a dualsport, I've been toying with the idea of trying a set of the 'stunt' gears to get better low speed tractability. I dont want to lose the ability to ride it on a day to day basis though. local legal speeds are < 100kph ( 60 mph), which I suspect is within the capability of the stunt gears - but what sort of rpms would they be turning at that speed, and what are the shift points like for use in traffic?

any insights on this greatly appreciated. ( and no, I couldnt see the answers in KV - some info on gearing, but nothing about road manners)

I'd say your fuel mileage would be terrible and at highway speeds you'd be fairly close to redline.

If you know the ratio and your rear wheel diameter you can work out what your rpms would be at a given
speed. Given that 5th gear is a 1:1 ratio. These should help; http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/calculations.htm

I've actually got my own spreadsheet that'll do the gear calculations for me - I wrote it in excel for my other hobby ( building custom 4x4's - you've gotta see my Series 1 rover to believe it!)

problem is, the #'s only tell 1/2 the story. I've seen guys build 4x4's that look good on paper, but because of where the shifts work out vs the power band in real world driving, the resulting trucks are almost impossible to drive smoothly in traffic...ergo, my question about 'real world' driving.

I'm just trying to avoid going to a chain - I'm loving the 'zero maintenance' belt drive thing ( not to mention not getting chain oil all over the RHS of me, and the bike intermittently!) guess I'll have to do the number crunch, and see what the rpm's work out as for cruise...

I see you have bags on your bike and assume you do some touring, touring with low gears would be a drag!

Forget it - having ridden a GSXR1000 that belongs to one of the SWS guys that were suppport act for Crusty tour here in OZ I can say the gearing makes the bikes useless for everyday use - engine screaming it's tits off at 60mph. Wheelstands of course are then merely a casual blip of throttle if thats your goal.
