Fellow Buellers,
I am concerned that the drive belt on my 06 XB12Scg is unnecessarily tight (I have 450 mi on the bike and it might well stretch a bit by the time it hits the 1000 mi break in period, but even so, it's d***m tight!). In my mind, it probably explains a lot of previous years' rear wheel bearing and belt failures. I'm tempted to replace the stock tensioner/idler wheel with a spring loaded one. Do any of you have any thoughts, opinions, recommendations or experience with a good aftermarket replacement? And, secondly, even though I may consider such a replacement beneficial, do you suppose it would void the Buell warranty?

It's fine, they are all tight.

The belts dont acutally stretch with use, they shrink a bit.

It's under warranty, leave it alone. The factory made it that way for a reason.

there is no adjustment from the factory for a few reasons, one of which is that if its to loose it will slip cogs, therefore, no adjustment ability = no being able to adjust it wrong. trust me, you shouldnt have any problems with bearings and such because of the tension.

i need to change mine to chain, but thats not because it isnt a good setup its just because i am working on exceeding the capabilitys of the stock belt as i have already stripped the teeth off of one.

simple answer, its fine, leave it!
