I need to install some new rear brakes on my bike. I wanted to know if anyone knows the part # of the rear brakes or another part # to any other brand rear brakes that would fit a 2006 12R. I want to see if they have them at my local bike shop. Thanks, ADAM | ||

I can't help you there, I have 51k on my Original rear pads, Don't use the back brakes unless I really need to. Ski | ||

Im a rear brake user myself. I try NOT to use the front. I dont like the whole nose-dive feeling. | ||

I try NOT to use the front. Vaneo1... That is not a very good practice/habit. Over 70% of your stopping power is up front! If you are ever in an emergency situation where you need to brake ASAP you should be extremely comfortable with your front brake. | ||

Vaneo1, the front forks can be dropped to the stops (about 1/4/inch or so) and if you change your braking habits to use both brakes equally all the time, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find out the front end no longer dives like it did before. But, like Stealth says, the real benefit comes when you have to make a panic stop and you reflexively do it in perfect control. | ||

Something to consider: you're just about doubling your stopping distance using almost rear brakes alone. As you brake the bike's weight shifts foward meaning the contact patch on the back tire gets smaller while the contact patch on the front tire gets bigger. Also, the front brakes have six pistons versus one in the back. Maybe thats saying something eh? If you're smooth, the bike won't dive.
