Hey guys,

I am new to the board. Just curious if anyone has a XB on here with the stock seat and airbox off. I think a XB would be sweet set up naked with a seat welded down low above the back tire. Similar to looking something like this.

Please post pics if you have any or a possible photoshop a seat on this bike. Thank You

Hey there. Removing the airbox cover is easy, however, in that picture the entire rear subframe assembly is gone. With it are the Battery, ECM, and 90% of the electronics that make the bike run. I'm sure there are extreme, minimalist bike out there, but buell did a pretty good job of trimming the fat as it is. I know what you mean though.

TK

You could aways try to fab your own rear subframe. It will be pretty hard to fit everything in to the tail if it is any shorter than the S models. It would look pretty sick if you can pull it off though.

if you place the seat "just above the rear tire" you MUST change the footpeg and brake/shift lever position (relocate) if you still want to be able to actually move them.

the lower the seat the upper/fwd the footpeg... (like chopper setup)

of course you don't need it if your are able to flex your ankle to an unnatural angle;)

as you can see in the picture above (taken from XBORG, german buell forum, I guess) that seat is just -lighter- not -lower- than stock.

My only concern in doing something like this is throwing off the dyanamics of the bike. I would love to set the bike up with a differnt riding position though. How tough would it be to change the brake/shifter location.

That is pretty sweet looking with the shorty tail like that. Post some pics if you decide to do it!

That looks like the mount plate I've seen on some mufflers.

I've seen pics somewhere of a similar looking bike with
the battery mounted on the left side above the oil cooler.

I could be wrong though.

heck you could be right for all i know. even when i enlarge the pic i cant make it out for sure. if it is the exhaust mount i think they need to clean it up a bit more and smooth it out. also i think mounting the battery above the oil cooler would sure be different, as long as you camoflaged it it might not be to bad though.

the way I saw it reminded me of some of the wera and superbike
late 80's gsxr's with the battery mounted in a similar location.

I have an R and like the look of the short/naked short end of the bike pictured above. I am thinking about getting the racing sub frame and doing something like the earlier pic. What do you guys think?

Can somebody photoshop a seat down by the back tire on the bike in the link that I put up top?

The reality of that would be tough, because the rear frame members, what hold the seat & electronics, is not bolted on.
If you attached a seat to the swingarm, every time you hit a bump, it would catapult you off!
I suppose you could Fab a new frame member coming off the main frame/fuel tank, but that would be tough too!

I suppose you could use the heel guard fitment points to attach something?
It just might be feasible?

the question that comes to my mind is how short are your legs? look at the seat-peg relationship.

ya, the seat-peg relationship won't work. Its going to have to be moved forward. It will change the style and ride of the bike but it will look killer whens its done.
