Just wondering how everyone jacks up their bike since there is a muffler under the engine in the way of my motorcycle jack : )

I use a Craftsman hydraulic that fits right under the muffler. I even have the Latus exhaust, and it jacks up with no problem.

I'm pretty sure i read somewhere that it is completely safe to jack it up by the pipe...

yes, thats where you are supposed to jack it up at. if you look under the bike at the bottom of the muffler(stock ones) you will see it says jacking point on it where the mufflers are the strongest.

I lift mine with a chain hoist from the rafters and some good straps!

I thought this thread would be about lo-jack for bikes.....

I use race stands, front and rear for most things. The front is the type that lifts under the steering head tube.
Except for steering head bearings I can do about anything on them.
They are stable enough to climb onto the bike without tipping it over.
With both wheels off. And no straps are required. Pit-bull stands.

The MC under-bike stands will work, but you need to push the bike up on 2X4s first to get the jack under. Don't forget that you also need a 2X4 for the side stand.

I get the wife to lift my bike...she can maintain a hoist-like stance for hours....or at least until she gets hungry!
