Ok I have a 12X and the website claims thet are not compatable. I'm sure this has to do with the hand guards. | ||

should be a simple matter to cut the necessary hole in the end of the grips. | ||

Traction grips: Freeze the grip and use an exacto knife to cut the end of the grip out. Then use a dremel with a stone bit to finish the shape to what you need. Make sure that the throttle side does not bind on the handlebar itself. Be patient when modding the grips so that you don't take too much and they will work fine. I can't yet say how well I like them, I only have a few miles on them. | ||

I go the other way on trimming rubber and plastic. I have a hot knife I purchased at the local hardware store. It's a pretty slick idea. It is a soldering iron with replaceable tips. One of the tips is a collet assembly for xacto type blades. It stinks a bit when cutting, but is not as messy as some other methods. I'll have to try the freezing trick next time I need to do something like this. (Message edited by diablobrian on March 13, 2006) | ||

And on the grips, frozen or not, try using a belt or disk sander with a coarse grit belt or disc. It will do some very nice and subtle shaping and smoothing on the rubber. The secret is that it can remove material with little or no pressure applied. Jack | ||

well, the city cross also has the hand pucks and the traction grips fit fine on them.. and they do make a huge difference in the feel on your hands.. |
