How do the XB's (2003 & up ) reliability compare to other brands . I own a Harley and many Honda products that have never broke down or been back to the dealer. Can I expect to haul my 03 XB9S back to the dealer at some point for repair ? It seems that some folks here on this board have had a few small issues with the XB. Hoping my XB is a goodun ! P.M.C. |

Last time I saw industry stats Buell/H-D brand motorcycles had the lowest warranty claims of all bikes sold in the US of A. *2004 models. My XB9R was the 1st motorcycle that I ever owned that has NO warranty repairs. My XB12R is getting close to the end of it's warranty, NO repairs either. My M2 had only 1 minor warranty claim. What brand of motorcycle do you think my next one will be? |

6552 miles on an 04 XB12R Used for battling with Los Angeles traffic, and spirited canyon riding. Ridden regardless of weather conditions. Aside from pinging (probably not a problem with the 9) everything has been wonderful. |

12,000 miles........ride the hell out of it. 03' XB9S. Rubbed through a wire on the ECM at 10k miles. Nothin' else. Glitch has close to 40K on his XB9S and really just regular mat. and the stator around 20K. Maybe he will chime in. |

close to 25k miles on my 03 XB9R. only problem I had was with the spark plug wire connection. Keep coming loose causing a plug to foul. |

Purchased my used 03 XB9R this time last year with 1,800 miles. Year later and I have 13,000 miles. Replaced the clutch cable that had a small leak where it connected with the tranny. Did it myself. Tip - Get the Service Manual |

It's good you asked. If you went only by the number of problems you see here things would look dismal. There are a few posts about the guys with trouble free bikes are too busy riding to post much Honestly, the XB series have gained a reputation of being nearly bulletproof, as long as you get the wheel bearings changed out (factory recall, new ones have orange seals). An don't "blip" the throttle while the engine is warming up or you'll foul the plugs (usually the front plug) Other than that, just enjoy. |

2006 XB12R used for commuting across town in the same situation as Interex. Bought brand new in August W/ o miles on it. Now have almost 9,000 miles and still runing strong. Some light pinging in hot weather, but these engines seem to pack a stronger punch in cooler weather. BTW used 101 octane in the engine for kicks and right away I noticed a gain in acceleration w/ zero pinging and engine smoothness. |

Does anyone know where to find actual warranty claim statistics? This question gets asked here at least once a month it seems. There has to be data someplace that can be posted here. |

26,000 miles on mine. Replaced three speedo sensors so far. Now I have to do the steering bearings. No other problems. Oh and the drive belt broke at 12,000 miles. |

Just over 23,000 on mine. No real issues except one blown speedo sensor (also issue on some Harley's with same part) and a freak occurance of a loose connection for the High Beam in the switch. Both of these issues total took about 30 minutes to resolve. Otherwise nothing worth mentioning...see my profile for more info. |

26,670 miles on my 05 XB9SX. Only had to replace the break switch and starter switch. Recently just had to replace the shifter oil seal. Other than that all is good. |

Had a few minor issues with the 06 12X, and nothing with my 04 12S. But best part about owning my Buells has been the unexpected outstanding service at the local HD shop, and that puts more confidence in my ownership of the good 'ol American made bikes. Sure I could afford any Jap, or German bike, but I kinda like the small company Buell is. |

Stick to your Honda. That way, we won't have to put up with this same post over and over again. |

'04 12R. 19,5XX miles. I had the trans output shaft seal fail, but that was after I dropped it into first w/o the clutch TWICE... My bad. No problems at all with the trans though. The dealership had it fixed in about 40 minutes or so. |

04 XB12R, 28,000 miles, the only problem I have had was relays going bad, updated the part and no more issues. I have had some warranty work but it was my own fault and the dealer hooked me up. |
