SO this weekend i got my new Odie pipe, 12 lid, turn signals, and K&N filter. So i got to work and installed the odie pipe and everything was fine. Took her out for a quick spin and loved it! Sounds amazing, great power. Next i move on to the signals (American Sport Bike cateye ones) Well turns out i ended up tearing the wires out of one of them, and the bulb blew on another one. So now i have both right side signals on, but no left side (have to order 2 more i guess). No big deal... moving on, then i decided to cut my 12 lid, go to work with a die grinder and now its all open and great. Well fantastic, now the bike only fires on one cylinder!!!! Hmm i think so myself. So i put the stock 9 lid back on, try again and still nothing, and well after a few more tries... now it wont even start. I am sooo pissed right now, have no idea what the hell is wrong, and am about to just toss the bike. Any help would be nice.

pull the plugs, change them and try again. You still running factory ecm?? Should have a race ecm. You are moving a lot more air now

When you stripped the wires out you could of blown a fuse...not sure just guessing.

Dont order plugs, go to a good auto parts store and look for some Denso iridium IXU24. These plugs should tolerate more abuse than regular plugs. What Will said above, you were messing with some electrical I would run down your fuse box. Check you plug wires too?

Couldnt it just be a fouled plug?

Very well could be - I fouled mine (front) with just a moment of throttle while cranking it over. In your frustration you might have fouled the 2nd one with extra throttle trying to re-light the first one? Just a guess -

I think I pulled mine and cleaned it with cleaner and sandpaper (twice - first time didn't work I think)and it came back on. It was awhile ago though and my memory is terrible - I might have had to replace the plug.

should be extensive posts on fouled plugs in archive. Get your favorite tasty beverage, some good music, and take your time cleaning them if you don't pick up new ones today. It's free and is better than waiting, specially with a new pipe!

Alex change out just the front. I'll bet thats your only problem. My bike did the same after a pipe change and filter change when I started it for the second time. No biggie.

When you said a quick spin what did you mean by that?? Reason I ask is that even the stock ECM needs to learn its changes. What you needed to probably do is take the bike on a ride for atleast 5 miles where you are above 3500 rpm's. It gives it time to think about what it needs to do with the pipe and airbox changes. You might want to think about the race ECM though.

thanks for the help guys

It's all part of the process. Rarely do mods go perfectly without a hitch.

This is minor. If you don't enjoy sorting out issues you might want to re-
think doing heavy mods to your bike. Nothing personal, just trying to look
out for your sanity. Some of us are nuts and love turning wrenches, others
are miserable working on their bike. Then again you could just be having......
A bad day.

i love messing with bikes, and cars ect for that matter. but i also make sure my wrenches are strong enough to withstand high speed contact with walls and other imovable objects on those not so good days, lol

I am a tech by trade and let me tell you, things rarely work out the way you planned, if you cant handle the speed bumps slow down or stop and take a break. Trust me I know best about taking breaks, I am still unemployed after my last outburst.

Alex, I think you are trying to do too much at once. Walk away, grab a beer, relax and things look differently when you come back. Good luck.

yea, i had it listed for sale before the mods. Haha, it wasnt that bad of a day tho, im not selling it because of the plugs fouling! I was just pissed off, but when you start doing mods your bound to have problems. And the GSX-R i just thought i would like to have. If i get that im going to buy a 12S too!

Win win for me!

Been there before 892. When I owned the FZR I decide to do a stage 1. That was fun. Can we say tuning hell. Rejet, test, rejet again, test, rejet again, begin cursing.

Hey man I measure my upgrades in parts broken - I just put on my Micron and exclaimed to my wife as if it was an accomplishment - "And I only broke 1 part during the whole project!"

I was trying to disconnect the TPS connection without having removed the plastic side panel, and with only top access I broke the clip that holds it. Once I removed the panel I was like "D'oh! What an idiot I am!" I safety wired it to hold it together on the re-assembly -

This is the coolest smiley going, and the one that best sums up my personality in general - I'll be using it whenever possible.
