Looking for a place that isn't full of idiots, who refuse to follow the manual and try to charge additional for their errors. I realize that no such place probably exists in Arkansas due to the fact that no one except the 3 harley dealers in state probably have the manual. Problem is the dealers don't use the manual. Long story short I brought front and rear tires in for balancing after I had them done previously elsewhere. They added one ounce too much on the rear, had them fix that. Next they added an ounce too much on the front, had them fix that. I just realized after a couple of months that they put the weights of the front on the wrong side. The manual specifically states in multiple places that it must be placed on the RIGHT side of the front rim. The weights were placed on the left side of the front. I have noticed a high speed vibration only as speeds top 80 or so mph and they get kind of ridiculous as the speeds increase from there ( I know some will say it is probably user error or wind) Problem is the bike has never felt right since I purchased it used and the dealers in this state are idiots. Question is what should I do now?

I don't know if it will help you out, but when I was trailering my old X-1 to my in-laws, on vacation from Cali. I strapped my bike down to hard and blew my fork seals. She is from Hot Springs and the HD dealerhsip there looked at my bike like, "what is a Buell?" I took it to the HD/Buell Dealership in Little Rock and they were done with my bike in two hours.

When I came to pick it up they were polishing and cleaning my bike even though it was raining and my bike was in an open trailer. I would consider that really good service.

I would definitely try them man. If not next time take your bike to any sportbike dealership, the Buell rims are the same make as alot of others. Just better because they are stamped BUELL!!

Dan,
One of the nice features of the Buell is that it is much easier to maintain oneself than the typical watercooled inline four, or Ducati. A couple of visits to the typical Harley dealer will make self maintenance seem like an even better idea.

What a lot of brothers do is to order the Shop Manual and the Parts manual from Daves, and then order parts from him as needed. He has most common parts in stock, and prides himself on getting you the one's he doesn't have as fast as possible. He is at one of our sponsors, Appleton HD. His phone number is 920 151 1651, Monday is his day off. You might check out all the other sponsors as well, they are all Buell enthusiasts.

I have enjoyed my Buell a lot more after I said goodbye to Lighthouse Harley Davidson, ( shortly before they said goodbye to Buell), and started doing the work myself, with the help of my friend Gerry. I try to help him with his bike and computer things to even things out.
I just got kind of tired of paying some jerk to break my bike and lie about it. Of course there are good Buell dealers out there, just none within a hundred miles of my house.

I also feel a lot more comfortable riding a bike that I have fettled myself, and the Buell, with its sensitive suspension, definitely rewards owner participation, but every bike, regardless of brand, does.

Bought the service manual and parts manual even before I had the bike. I just don't have the equipment to remove and replace tires on the rims, balance the wheels, do a TPS reset, etc. Once it gets cold enough I am going to turn the engine down myself to put some header wrap on. I have all the basic tools, missing some of the single use ones. Thanks for everyones input.

Jones H-D in Little Rock and North Little Rock had some Buell sense, but they dropped the line last year.

Old Fort [formerly Denney's] H-D in Fort Smith still carries Buell...barely. The service manager there is Buell friendly but I don't have much experience with them with anything other than oil changes and tire replacement....those went well enough. That being said, a service tech there put a front tire on my Electra Glide backwards...so you just never know....

Cylce Connection in Joplin,MO is the most Buell friendly dealer in the region and John is probably one of the better Buell service techs around, IMO.

It's a 2.75 hour trip, but well worth it to me. If you ever have serious issues, I recommend you haul it up there.

Sik, there is a new dealership opening in Rogers in June, try to hang in there. I would recommend staying away from ANY JONES H-D. JOPLIN is the best around here. Old Fort is good if you talk to the right guy FIRST, talk to the dude in the wheelchair. If you go to Joplin, ask for Chris Cook, the service manager Very nice guy. Scott the owner is good too.

an OUNCE? they put an OUNCE on your wheel?
remove the damn weight. the vibration will likely go away. an OUNCE? what kind of tire did they mount? a friggin OUNCE? these people need a vigorous thrashing, and then have their tools taken from them.
if a modern hi quality 17 inch road tire is off by an OUNCE, it needs to be repositioned on the rim, (or returned to the manufacturer)

There are 3 1/4 ounce weights on my Ulysses front wheel.

The manual calls for 2 oz max rear, and 1 oz max front (only on the right side). I ordered Dunlop 208's in the factory sizing. I had it done by two different shops and that was the best either could do. No one around really wants to deal with mounting tires.

"I would recommend staying away from ANY JONES H-D"

I'm in the Little Rock area and stopped by the Jones H-D to pick up some o-rings. Before I even asked for what I needed they stated, that they no longer work on any Buell except Blast and will not order any Buell parts. I know if I need anything in the future I'm getting it from DAVES. I don't know why the Buell.com website even lists Jones H-D as a Buell dealer since they mine as well sell kawasaki. (Since the dealer locater doesn't seem to be working on the website and last time I checked/it worked was months ago.)
