Anyone on here have an 04 or newer XB12 with aftermarket push rod covers? Please post pics if you have any. I am thinking about getting some to make the bike look a little tougher. Not that it needs it.  But I think they look nice. Thanks. | ||

I too am interested in seeing some billet or cast & polished pushrod covers. Haven't found any to date, and nobody seems to be able to tell me if the sportster covers will fit.  | ||

The pushrod tubes are the easy part. Just get any adjustable pushrod tube available for a sporty. Then get '04+ Sportster pushrod bases, or go with the great looking billet pieces. | ||

Guys, I wanted to do the same thing...asked a similar question about a year ago. "Anonymous" responded that the XB Buell pushrod covers were designed the way they are to help relieve the crankcase pressure. Some of the guys who are into the motor rebuilding, racing, or closer to the factory may be able to confirm or give you a more definitive answer. DaveS may know also. I decided to leave as is...would rather have good crankcase relief/breathing than better looking pushrod covers. Cyko Bob | ||

since the cylinders are barely visible on xb's, I don't find those covers useful... different story if the whole motor was exposed to be admired in its beautifulness  this is the price to pay if you want a top engineered chassis/frame. anyway I'd love to have the heads exposed besides the pushrods... the firs time I saw them was when I removed the airbox... wooow!!! what a pity having them hidden underneath it. | ||

Hi 99, they look so absolute that they fit that I bought them )-: The case borings for the 4 screws are different. The others on the pics are from Zippers, we buy them from Brian at Revolution Performance, maybe Dave also get them. I used them on the Hellbender and the TT 1400 project. Very nice stuff. 99buellx1, you might as well take the black cover off (located right below the frame/gastank, top of the front cylinder) to show more of the engine. I did that. | ||

I spoke to Dave and he seems to think that the motor needs to be removed to perform this mod. If this is true, is the mod really worth the effort? Anyone have any thoughts on this? | ||

Hi Yoda, You have to remove the cylinderheads because the stock plastic pushrodcovers are not to get out without that. One of the benefits of the Zippers solution is that they have collapsible covers so you can take out everything (in combination with adjustable pushrods) without putting the engine in parts. Of course a big job just for the look, but highly recommended when the heads are down anyway. And makes work on the engine easyier in the future. Jens | ||

Sounds like this would be a mod that would be done in conjunction with other engine work. Maybe one day if i do major rework to my motor I'll do this, but for now I just have the race kit with a Latus exhaust. Has worked well for 11,000 miles. Thanks for the help! |
