One of the guys I ride with is riding 2nd and 3rd gear standups on his 9S with a Jardine/K&N/, without the race ECM. I'm doing the same on my 12R with pretty much the same set up. If your asking if it is possible, yes it is, and a damn good time too!

I know it possible, I am getting it off the ground etc, just having trouble perfecting them.
guess I need more practice. you bringing them up the same way you would on a jap I-4? like say 2nd gear, rev up in the power band, then slip the clutch till it comes up?
foot on the brake? : )

Problem I have is it comes up alot quicker than the jap bike I have ridden.

like say 2nd gear, rev up in the power band, then slip the clutch till it comes up?

Thats the way I do it.

you guys lower your rear brake pedal so you can still keep foot on it comfortably while the front is up?

On my 12R I stand on on back peg and cover the brake when I'm standing, but I don't even have to stand to do 2nd gear. My friend can do sit downs in 2nd on his 9S also. In second I get up to 30 mph and work the clutch just like you are talking about. In third I have to be standing and bounce on the bike to compress the springs. I usually pick up third at about 40-45 mph. I just did it over and over until I felt comfortable putting it straight up and I think that is about the only way to get the hang of it. My friend on the 9S usually picks his up at about the same speeds also.

The brake doesn't bother me in the stock position.

olinxb, I thought stand ups where harder than sit downs. I can do a sit down in third ( not very long) still need to perfect it.

Have I missed something?

Standups are only harder than sitdowns untill you get the balance down. It is a lot easier to compress the springs standing up because you have a lot more leverage. With a sitdown you can pretty much only use the power of the bike to get the wheel off the ground. I'll see if I can get someone to take some pics and videos when I get my new belt. Snapped it on Sunday.

I just adjusted the height of my brake pedal last night. I didn't feel I could reach it at the stock height, especially while attempting wheelies.

i usually wind first up fairly far, say about 6 grand or so , pull in clutch, bang second and hammer the gas just BARELY before the clutch goes back out. stands straight up. just becomes habit and works so smoothly. no slipping of the clutch or anything. its not really popping the clutch i guess either though. it all happens in just a split second. first i settle in at about 3 grand and same thing, just BLIP the clutch as i hit the gas. don't know, thats just what seems to work for me

Almost the same for me. With my 9SX, just wind the first gear to 6.5k - 7.0K rpm and shift in 2nd gear without any clutch slipping and it give real nice wheelies!

NICE HELMETS IN THAT VIDEO. I FOUND THE BEST WAY TO GET IT UP IS TO KEEP THE THROTTLE OPEN WHILE I SHIFT TO SECOND GEAR AT ABOUT 4500-5000 RPM'S. IT COMES RIGHT UP.

statik-R u grabing enough throttle? I find my 9r with the race kit needs a healthy amount of rpms to get it up in 2nd.

"NICE HELMETS IN THAT VIDEO..." A matter of choice I guess but it seems more representative of recent converts from the squid community.

How about the parking technique on the guy on the yellow one? Just flops it down and walks away. Maybe it was a loaner?

I ride mine at about 4k in second and pull it up, then I have to ride 2nd a little bit before shifting into 3rd.

If I shift into 3rd once I pull it up in 2nd it will just ride it out and I can,t ride it.

This is a sit down wheelie.
