this is a long shot but it could be a possibility. when you dumped the bike what happened? did it load up really bad with fuel and stay running? if so i was reading something somewhere about the computer learning how much fuel to inject into the motor for elevation reasons and other weather conditions. in the article it said if you run out of gas with the xbs the next time you start it with gas in the tank the bike will run really really rich until it learns not to put that much fuel in. this happenes because its previous lesson was trying to put as much fuel as possible into the engine to keep it running but there was none in the tank. so for your case if this is the problem it learned that it needs to take fuel out to run. to re set this i believe its recomended to run at 3500 rpm for a certain period of time on the highway or other straight road. im sure someone on the board knows the right re set instructions. just a long shot from me good luck man.

Hi,

Hmmmm, dropped bike. First thing I would be looking for is some kind of electrical issue. Either a wire or connection grounding out or going open. Since the bike starts and idles fine it's only when you try to get underway you may have an issue where flexing or your weight on the seat causes the connection to fail.

Another thing to think about is if as a result of the crash the fuel pump picked up some debris. If it found it's way the injectors and plugged them up a bit that could be a cause for the lean out above idle. May want to pop the fuel pump out and make sure the sock is still attached.

Maybe if you dropped it on the other side?

If it were me, I would be looking at all the connections for all the wiring I did, but maybe that is just my wiring...

Well, the problem is fixed. I took off all the airbox cover pieces and checked the connections - they all seemed fine, except maybe the hi perf. O2 sensor - it wasn't unclipped, but it moved about a mm or two when I squeezed it. The wiring to it was also a little taught. I shifted it to a slightly different location (after squeezing it together) and plugged the air temp sensor in and went for a quick ride (now that must have looked funny - going down the road with no airbox cover). Initial test seemed fine and sure enough - the bike is back together and I rode it to work today - everything is working normal.

Of course my Technoresearch software decided to act up and wouldn't connect to the bike so I couldn't run diagnostics on anything.

I think I wasn't getting any CEL because of the PCIII feeding the O2 wire to the bike a signal anyway, no matter what the 4 wire O2 sensor was reading.
