Time to buy that light diesel car or truck and start running bio diesel or veggie oil. |

I have a Ford F-250 Diesel truck that gets 15-16mpg for my regular driving. I just saw a price of 2.55 for diesel. Just 2 days ago I filled up my truck for 2.35/gal. Prior to that I have never paid more than 2.25/gal. I try to ride everywhere I can go. I guess we need to take over another oil rich nation. May be Mexico By the way dose anyone know how to fit a Car seat on a bike. My boy is 20 months and I think he wants daddy to take him to daycare on the bike |

Yeah he dose, but he gets sort of pissed off when I let him out. You should see the looks I get when I pull him out of the bag at church. |

Boy, these days I'm mighty glad I ride a bicycle or motorcycle exclusively and the wife drives a VW diesel car (40/50 mpg town/hwy). Diesel is currently $2.70/gal here. My old '68 GMC big block PU (dad bought it new) has 20-gal main tank plus two "saddle" tanks of 15 gal each. Let's see, 50 gallons at $3 per...yikes! Good thing I only drive it about 100 miles/year (to/from the dump ) |

Hi, Wish I could get a light duty Diesel, I live in the Peoples Communista Massachusika. We have the same "clean air regs" as Cali. As such, I can't buy "major polluters" like a VW or MB Diesel. I can however keep running my '92 Cummins powered Dodge 4wd, which since it has a 8510 Lb GVW, totally exempt from any air regs. It happily rolls along getting a combined 20MPG, which is exactly the same as my wife's '04 Sable... go figure. Tom |

Veggie oil is free or really cheap if you get it used from your local greasy spoon. There are a few companies that manufacture Bio-Diesel processing equipment. Freedom Fuel America has a setup and advertises Bio-Diesel cost as low as $.70 and gallon. Of course the equipment will set you back about $4000 to $5000 bucks. Then there is a grease car setup that has a heated fuel tank and uses straight veggie oil, still use diesel to start the engine till it warms up. http://www.freedomfuelamerica.com/ http://www.greasecar.com/ |

Not to pick on the Irish today... but you also have alternate means of transportation, such as the subway and buses, etc. Outside of maybe NYC and Chicago we all have to rely on our own vehicles to get us around. That being said, I am looking to get rid of my Suburban for something more economical. It cost $70 to fill up last week and all indicators are that oil is going to $70 a barrel. |

Filled up the Excursion the other day. 44 gallons @ 3.20$. It was about 130 dollars! I say we tell the Israel folks that we will pay 30 dollars a barrell and we dont care where thet get it. BTW the DMV would not give me vanity plates that read WAR4OIL. Ed |

BTW- In the Soviet Republic of CA, you cannot buy a NEW VW diesel, but you can by a used one. If a big D has been registered in some other state, you can buy one and register it here. Which is of course, what a lot of folks are doing. It does seem to make sense to me that a car getting 45-50 MPG is generally speaking, a good thing! |

Went on a ride yesterday morning and primo was $2.699 everywhere. I got 54 on the first tank (as we were gassing it around a bit) and the second tank 59 mpg!!) that was mostly cruising on the interstate (deadheading back) at 65 or 70) |

And yet the major oil companies continue to break the bar on profits each year. As long as we are willing to pay for it, the price will continue to rise. When gas was .86 cents a gal we complained about how high it was. it went to 1.20 and we complained. it went back down to 1.03 and we said what great prices now that it has come down. Now that it is over 2.00 we would think that it was a fabulous price at 1.75. The price will continue to rise well beyond what it is now. |

My business used to be directly related to big oil, when the gas prices went up a nice pay day was around the corner. Now I'm crying like the software guy at the next pump because big oil is not investing the money anymore. Speaking of the Prius, that's what I'm looking at to replace the "Burban". Who cares if it's slow, I have my bike if I want to hang it out! |

No new car sales of any kind of diesel in CA. However, you can buy a used one and it is legal to register and drive here. D. Trucks are fine. That makes sense right??????????????????? |

Kdan, I like the pic' send them to my house please. My Ram1500 has a 5.9L that drinks my 35 gallon tank like a PBR on a hot Vortex night and wants more.Anyone have a new 05' F250 w/ Powerstroke or 05' Ram2500 w/ the Cummings? I'd like to know the gas mileage per gallon. |

i have a dodge ram 2500 with the cummings.it has 120k plus miles on it. i get around 25 mpg local, 29 on the highway.if i don't drive like a mad man. my dad has a 2005 dodge 2500 with the cummings. has about 15k miles. he only gets 15 mpg local, 17 or so on the high way.i suspect it is because it really is not broken in yet, and the way they flow the fuel through the heads on the newer version of the motor. lone xb |

I ride my bike as much as I can. I have put more miles on this summer then the previous 2 summers I have owned it. Bike 45mpg vs Jeep 17 mpg... Not a tough choice. (except when it is raining!) |

My friends laughed at me 1 1/2 years ago when I bought a Ford Focus. Now they are crying about the milage they get with their big, manly trucks. The moral: Penis size can have an adverse affect on a mans wallet. |

I love the gas mileage we get, but I have to admit...if gas prices don't slow down, I'm gonna have to get me a new bike. These guys (http://www.startwin.com) have a biodeisel powered twin with decent performance that gets 150mpg. Imagine getting that gas mileage from filling up at your local chinese restaurant? Now, if only I could translate it. |
