Hi, Geez, if this keeps up, that $7.41 a gallon I pay for Sunoco race gas is gonna seem cheap. lol I'll still keep driving my cage to work as I would have to take I93 through Boston, one of the scariest places to take a bike in the US. Well, at least until I move to NH and get a new gig. Tom | ||

My other vehicle gets 12mpg ): I ride the bike unless forced to do something else. Two more years of this and I will have saved enough cash to pay for the next bike........ $2.67 a gallon down the street. Of course add 3 sets of tires (this year) two new rims, a footpeg, new paintjob (soon), a new drive belt (monday) and a few other misc things and it is all working out about the same lol  | ||

LMAO  I don't see nearly as many rednecks in their 11,000ci 4gpm 1981 camaros anymore... 4 gallons per mile.. thats funny, but in reality, my brother had a 1970 Ford Galaxie.. it got about 2 mpg. Huge car weighing like 8000 lbs (exaggeration, a tiny one) with a 2 brl carb.. sitting on a 302. Good thing he sold it considering it'd take him about 40$ a day to drive it to and from work. | ||

Had a '79 Ford F 150, 8 inches of lift, 36.5 inch tires and a built big block!!! 9 miles to a gallon down hill with a tail wind on a good day!! But it was sooooooo much fun to drive! we've finally hit the £4.00 + gallon in the UK. Petrol is now the same price per gallon as milk. 5.59 euro over here for a gallon 98 unleaded thats about 7,29 usd ( 4,02 ponds stirling ) They may have neat twistys and old world scenery, but with $2.39/gal ethanol and $2.49 gal milk, (not to mention fewer MC restrictions) I'll take the "good ol USA" every time. | ||

$2.49 a gallon for reg where im at, and the price to me has gone up 24 cents in the past week and a half, (Family Buisness) gas will hit 3 bucks by the end of summer but do the math....if you were to by star bucks coffe by the gallon it would be like $50 | ||

39% of the price of gas in Canada is TAX. It was about $1.09 a liter for premium when I was there in July. I'm betting our friends across the pond are being taxed similarly. About $2.40 for premium in Colorado. 44¢ per gallon in taxes. My truck gets 10-12 mpg. I put less than 1400 miles on it last year, and about 20,000 miles between the bikes. | ||

I drive a truck for a living and thank God I don't have to pay the fuel cost. Diesel fuel in the past week here in SoCal jumped from $2.749 to $3.189. Call me a conspiracy theorist if you like, but it can't be the cost of refinement. It's the dastardly A.Q.M.D. Take into consideration the main ingredient of diesel fuel is a by-product of the manufacture of unleaded gasoline. Thereby making diesel a coarser refinement than other conventional motor fuels. It is cheaper to refine both in monetary costs and energy costs, not to mention, more can be produced from a barrel of crude oil than any other motor fuel. What's that you say? What about the environmental impact? Well here are the facts. You come to your own conclusion. In California you cannot buy a vehicle with a "light-duty" diesel engine. (i.e. Volkswagen TDI vehicles, Mercedes-Benz E Class diesel cars, Volvo diesel-powered passenger cars, etc.) You cannot import a light-duty diesel powered vehicle into California unless it was registered to you out of state for two years prior. The reason we are given for this is the particulate emissions that diesel engines release. Answer me this: Why then are you allowed to buy a Dodge Viper RT-10 sports car that gets about 8 mpg highway and carries about 20 gals of fuel? It seems to me a Viper would release more particulates than a Volkswagen Jetta TDI that carries 15 gals of fuel and gets 45-49 mpg. Furthermore, why can I go buy an International 9200 heavy-duty diesel truck or a Ford F-350 powerstroke diesel and not a Mercedes E class diesel? Because to ban the sale of those trucks would be more damaging to the local economy than jacking up the cost to fuel them. increasing the fuel cost has a twofold benefit (for the powers that be) as well. Not only does it give their pockets a good lining, but it "punishes" those people who have tried to avoid higher fuel prices by abandoning their gasoline-powered trucks in favor of the diesel-powered models. They (the powers that be) know that in this commerce driven society we have no choice but to pay the higher fuel cost. And we as commuters are not willing to pay the ever increasing cost of public transportation over the convenience of our own vehicles. If they were that concerned about air quality they would make sure the cost of mass transit stayed within a range that could sway the average commuter to riding rather than driving. (just my opinion) Thereby reducing the amount of vehicles on the roadway during peak commuting hours. Which would, in turn, ease congestion and ensure that tens of thousands of cars are not sitting stationary waiting for the car in front of them to move up 18 inches, so they can follow suit.  Sorry about hi-jacking the thread and going off on a rant. Now back on topic: I too am glad for the 50+ mpg I get with my Buell. Mark |
