I'd like to sacrifice a little stickiness for higher mileage. I got just over 5000 on the stock rear tire, does the Diablo last longer? Any other good online motorcycle tire stores? | ||

Holy Cow 5000 miles on the stock tire!! I only got 1700miles and with the diablos I got 2500 before a nail decided it wanted to make friends with the tire. There was plenty of tread left. Anyways Maybe you could setup a proportion or something like 1700(stock)/2500(diablo)=5000(stock)/7300ish(miles). This is probably very inaccurate. | ||

How do the Pirelli Scorpions compare pricewise? Im very happy with them and at 2000 miles, it looks like I will get at least 5000 miles out of them | ||

Trying to decide between the Diablo Corsa and the Diablo. I think I might go with the regular Diablo since it's about 69 bucks cheaper for the set. I don't think I'm going to do any track time, and I don't ride in the wet weather(Fairweather rider!!). I am sure the Diablo is more than I need. Any suggestions? | ||

It also depends to on how hard you want to ride on the tires! If you want to go all the way to the warning pegs, I would invest in the Diablos. Dont go cheap on tires, it would be like cheating youself. A good tire can make the machine ride very diff than a crapy one | ||

Well, the Diablo Corsa is supposed to have better traction. I don't know what the tradeoff is vs. mileage. So far I have 3400 miles on the stock 207's, and it's time to change them. | ||

If you got 5K off the stock tires, the Diablo Sport as opposed to the Corsa will last atleast that long. The Corsa is a softer compound which will yeild less milage. | ||

I am loving my Michelin Pilot Powers. Way better than the Dunlops. Haven't rode Diablo's though. | ||

I run Avon ST45/46, which I do not see on that site. I had around 8,500 miles on my rear before changing it. | ||

Try this site. http://www.swmototires.com/ I got 5K out of my stock 207, it was completely shot. I put on a Metzler Z6 and love it. I do mainly highway riding commuting to work, so I wanted a tire that would last longer. Still gives excellent grip. Way more confidence inspiring than stock. | ||

I got 2,364 miles on the Dunlop OEM. 2,874 miles on Dunlop 220 (Sport Touring) Now I have Metzler M1 (Sport tire) on the front and Metzler Z6 (hybrid sport touring) tire on the rear. Already have about 2,800 miles on the rear and appear to have used about 1/2 -2/3rds of it. Will probably get about 4,000-5,000 Very please with the warm up, handling with spirited riding and rain handling | ||

PILOT ROADS. the reason i say this is because if you are getting that much mileage out of your stock tire you are NOT riding the bike like it can be ridden, therefore why spend more money for less mileage and pay for extra performance you are obviously not using. well, now that i think about it, i may not have gotten 5,000. It was a demo bike purchased w/ 4000 on it. I just assumed they never changed the tire. But I guess it may have been changed somewhere along th line. | ||

I can't imagine how you could get anywhere near 5K on a rear (or any) tire on an XB. I put 15K on an 9r and I have 14K on my 12r and I've never gotten over 3k on a rear. I've run the dunlop, M1, diablo, diablo corsa, and am using the power now. I generally get 2600 to 3000 on a rear and will quite often change out the front with the rear just 'cause i like the feel of new rubber all around. I just put on the second power on the rear and it lasted a little over 2700. I now have 3100 on the front and i'm ready to get rid of it. BC Bruce | ||

On my 12R 2100 miles on the stock tire, 3300 miles on a Pilot Power, and just replaced a Pilot Road at 7100 miles. | ||

I got just a touch over 2K miles & the wear marks (indicators?) on my rear tire (stock Dunlop)are just starting to show. I think I'm gonna try out the Pirelli Scopion Syncs. I don't mind spending an extra $20-$30 if they have good grip & last at least 5K hard miles. Good tires are a sound investment. | ||

I don't think they really are. Somebody pointed out here a ways back that they asked dunlop what the hardness difference was between the "soft" and the "hard" parts of their dual compound tire. The answer was about 5%. Then they asked what the hardness variation was within particular tires of a particular model... the answer was... about 3-5%. YMMV. My solution was just to turn harder  | ||

Gowindward, How do you like the Pilot Roads on your R? I had just put those on my previous bike ~500 miles before, a'hem, opening up an opportunity for a new bike... so I did not really get a good feel for them from the performance side. Which leads to another question, how hard do you usually ride, if you don't mind me asking? | ||

I like the Pilot Roads. I just put the second rear Pilot Road on the bike. As for how hard I ride? I keep the rubber side down is all I can say and the tires and bike have far more ability I have nerve! I don't think I gave up anything going from the Power to the Road tire. I think the best comparison is bench marking the mileage I have gotten out of the Pilot Road back to the OE tire (2100 miles)and the Pilot Power (3300 miles) tires. Compare those back to your own tire/mileage history. Your consumption may vary as the disclaimer would read. |
