i was looking on american sport bike and you can get a open element kit for 58.00 and a k&n for 65.00. With this set up is the only difference between using both of those and the fast system that is 360.00 the thermal blanket. Just wondering if there is something i am missing. Thanks for the help. |

you can look at the pictures and see the difference. I know someone done a test and the FAST system is the best you can get. Might have been Trojan that done that |

I see the thermal blanket and the velocity stack but you can that too. Although i am not sure of the price of a aluminum or carbon velocity stack so that might be the big price difference. I looked at the hp increase and that is great. I was just curios what you would get with just a open element setup. Thanks for the help for a newbie bueller. |

Thanks for the info and any more info anyone else has. I will probably still go with the fast system because it looks so cool but just curious. |

The thing about the FAST system is the shape of the v-stack. That's what you are paying for, the R&D it took to figure it out on a flow bench then on the track. The thermal blanket is unique and is commercially prepared so the fit and finish are nice. I have a FAST system on order. If all goes well I should have it by the end of next week. I have the American Sport Bike kit and it's fine. You get lots more air in the engine. What I don't like is the way the lid holds down the air filter. The clamping force is not right and I believe there is the possibility of pulling dirt around the filter. |

i cut my lid up like the one from american sport bike and it works good. I did a wheelie though the other day and when I set the wheel down the lid fell down into the velocity stack and my bike stalled and wouldn't start. I started taking the bike apart on the side of the road trying to figure out what it was... |

thanks for all of the help. I really like the look of the fast system. If you don't mind me asking ejiii about how much is shipping. I am guessing you are getting it from b4b. I was just curios how much overseas shipping is or if you found it in the states could you let me know where. thanks |

Justin, The only place to get the FAST system right now is Hillbilly Motors in Germany. The is no U.S. source right now. I only ordered the v-stack and the mat. The K&N can be ordered here in the states so the cost of shipping is saved there. I don't know exactly what the shipping cost is yet but it should be about $30 to $40. |

HBM do have a series of "worldwide" partners that sell thier products. The F.A.S.T intake kit is possibly the best modification I made to my XB9s. Having tried a chopped-up XB9 airbox, a 12 airbox, the F.A.S.T kit was in a different league! Totally transformed my 9s right through the entire rev-range. I'm sure all 3 parts of kit play their individual parts in the performance gain from the CNC velocity-stack, the cylindrical K&N air-filter, and properly the most important part, the thermal blanket that restricts the heat from the XB cylinder heads entering the induction process. No TPS re-set require either, although it might be wise to check the condition of the spark plugs after an inital period to make sure everything is OK. Hey Stoobr2, properly the most important part, the thermal blanket that restricts the heat from the XB cylinder heads entering the induction process IS it just me ...But I well don``````t see the use of the blanket ,or at the least the very min. if any that it would help...but thats just me :-) |

Hi Hogs, Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but have you ever felt how much heat is radiated upwards from the XB's clyinders ? Especially as their all but enclosed in the frame rails. Black plastic against a quilted thermal blanket, I know which one gets my vote. Stoo (Message edited by Stoobr2 on June 19, 2005) |

Just my .02 cents yuppers, I just don`t get the ideal around this blanket, no heat once in motion, for heavy traffic stop and go traffic tie ups, etc. perhaps maybeeeeeeee but even then??????????? |

there is plenty of heat while in motion.even on days when it's cold my fan is on alot. Anybody know when someone in the states is going to make the right side scoop or atleast import it. i know Al is working on one. Hey AL when is that thing going to be ready????? SD |

As to the scoop, I have a open filter lid, as well as open vented outer cover, Air I get all kinds, the scoop (factory) i took off long ago no need for that ...Use that for an ice cream scoop now, will that be chocolate or chocolate chip...! |

im talking about the right side scoop to keep the back cylinder cooler and keep the fan off more.the left side scoop has a duel purpose. 1. to feed air to the intake 2. to cool the back cylinder |

Odie, that looks pretty good! Are you planning on making them to sell? I'm sure a lot of people would be interested. |

He does - I've got the under airbox barrier and under seat barrier. He does a nice job. |

"Odie, that looks pretty good! Are you planning on making them to sell? I'm sure a lot of people would be interested." I KNOW a lot of people would be interested. Too bad Odie cannot see the value in sponsoring the site so he can then reap the great benefits of selling his wares directly via BadWeB. |

Where can i get one of those DEI blankets is there a website? I bet they improve performance by lowering intake temps and by keeping your cool. How much do they reduce the heat by? |
