I got a thumb (up) from one cage this weekend and an "Is that a Firebolt?" from another. Even "they" are catching on. Some anyhow.

I think some of the Jap sport bike riders don't wave because they're to busy trying to figure out what kind of bike your on because it looks so cool and different.

I believe that the reason the some Harley rides don’t wave is because when they raise a hand to wave, the fringe from their jacket slaps them in the face.

Smile and wave...make 'em wonder what you are up to...not a big deal to me if someone does not wave. They have to live in "their" world, not mine.

Besides, when I was growing up in Texas (long time ago), everyone waved, whether they drove a car, pickup, or a tractor. That is no longer the case with the population growth...but I still wave when I get the urge...or as someone posted, a thumbs up if I really like it...another Bueller or some such idiot

I'll wave when I can leggo the bars. I know I'm not always paying attention to other riders - cos I'm watching something else. I guess that means I don't return waves too. (Dang Buell riders NEVER wave)

If some yuppie on a Harley CYABFDAMF - or whatever alphabet soup he's riding doesn't respond to a wave, I don't take it personally. Also, they're more likely to be "too cool" to wave and will do the little 2-fingered "V" without letting go the bars - or an under-the-bar kinda wave. (just an observation)

I would guess the majority of bikes I pass regardless of make wave back...it's just a matter of over or under. Cruisers and sportbikers do the down low where it seems Goldwingers and Bimmer riders tend to be above. Why is that???

My first generation Miata used to get waves...you'd hit the button that would "blink" the retractable head lights up and down. Funny thing was the first time someone did it to me I thought there was something wrong with my car!

I've noticed that on recent rides, the Harley snobs don't wave anymore. I can't figure these guys out, typical scum bags... doctors.. lawyers... Everyone else does, so I just keep on waving. I'll stop at the local ice house on my way home and they won't even say hello until they see that "American Motorcycles" logo on the tank. Usually then I get "why did you buy a Buell and not a Sportster?" questions. Oh well... some people will never get it!

To me a Sportster is like buying a 4 or 6 cylinder Mustang. You want to look cool and be part of the crowd but your on a slow over priced POS.

I've heard that "real motorcycle" thing too.

Guy at the usual biker coffee/potty stop in the hills asks me why I didn't buy a "real bike" instead of (his stupidity) - a "modified 883" (I was on my XB9) - duuuuh....

I told him - you mean a Yamaha? (he didn't get it)

the "Harley guys" will even sometimes refer to a sportster as "half a harley". I wonder what that makes the Buell in their eyes?

I generally do the Two finger low wave... If they don't wave, I convert it to the one finger high wave...

I get more waves from the Harley guys when I'm on my Harley than when I'm on my Buell.

I've heard the chick bike thing too, and I wasn't attempting to abuse anyone, merely posing a question

Around here, most guys wave, even the "badass Harley" types wearing the fingerless gloves. I usually just drop my hand for the ol' "low wave." One guy on a cruiser the other day waved back so high and hard I thought he might fall off his bike...

My sportster isn't even close to being a chic bike. Then again, it's not really a normal sportster either.

for sakes if it has the damn logo on it its a damn harley. if it sais buell well guess what...its a freaking buell. if some cornhole wants to be an about the sportster or the buell being half a harley or not a "real bike" let him/her, all that matters is that regardless of what dumbasses like that say... the fact is it is a REAL motorcycle no matter what. For sakes hello.... 2 wheels, motor, and guess what its a damn motorcycle.

i'll wave to anybody on a harley or any motorcycle for that matter but just because they drive a harley doesn't mean i think they are the . Personally i'd rather own something with an S&S Engine. Like the Big Dog Ridgeback.

Please do not get annoyed or take it personal when the Harley riders don't wave. From my observation of other Harley riders (I've been riding H-D's for 35+years, Buells for the last 8 or 9) most of them are such pi$$-poor riders that you really want them to keep hold of the bars!

If I'm in heavy traffic I tend not to wave and look at other motorcyclists as it takes away my attention from the cages around me. Otherwise I wave.

Maybe they can't hang on to the beer, the ape hangers, and wave at the same time.

As for the GoldWings and BMW's, it's hard to wave while loading another CD and plotting your course on the GPS and taking a call on your cell phone : )

Everyone waves here. Sorta. The big thing seems to be the low wave. Kinda like "Hey, you got a low tyre" or something.

Me? I do the Beauty Queen. Just coz I'm a smartarse.

I think they don't wave or the preferred "shaka" back here in Hawaii is because my bike is "louder" than their's.

I noticed I got more waves when it was colder out and only a few bikers were on the road. 99% of bikes I passed gave the wave. Now with all the bikes on the road guys just seem to be tired of it.
