Greetings all, I'm still running with the original rubber those black nasty Dunlops. Looking at changing, what does everyone recommend. # Temp is mild to hot almost all year round. # Weather is Mild dry or Hot humid. # Road surface, usual standard of tarmac, black falling apart darn pot hole in places. What sort of tyres would you all go for... Bike is XB9s 2003. Cheers | ||

I just put on a pilot power sport on my rear last week. (got a nail in the old one). I've got 365 mile on em so far in everything from hot and dry to heavy rain( all happens in the same day here in hawaii) and i have not had one thought of loss of traction at all. In fact I tried to smoke the rear to get the film off but it wouldn't brake traction!! I had the front wheel locked up and the tire stuck so hard it pushed the bike forward with the front locked! ( I could burn the dunlops all day no prob) SO, long story short. MICHELIN PILOT POWERS!!  | ||

Pirelli Diablos, Corsa's or super corsa's depending on your riding and do track days or not. I understand they are identical to the M1's apart from the thread pattern. | ||

I am very happy with the Pilot Powers on my '03 XB9S. Compared to the original Dunlop 207s they greatly improve the handling of the bike, and the are wearing very well. They seem to stick like glue on hot and cold roads, and are supposed to be excellent in the wet, although I am afraid my rain riding is mostly a thing of the past:-). Highly recommended. | ||

Michelin Pilot Power I've put 2000 miles on them and the tread life looks as if it's going to be much better than the 208's. As for grip, the Power's are more confidence inspiring than the 208's. My rear tire doesn't have any chicken strips. A fellow bueller swears by the Pirelli Diablos and I may try those when I do the next set of tires. The local kawi shop offers a phenomenal deal on Pirellis. | ||

i have been riding on the MICH. pilots for exactly 3k miles so far. the back tire probably still has atleast another 1k to go and the front tire will probably be dead after another back tire. these tires stick very well and turn in as if the bike has the best power steering youve ever had. i will probably give the Metz a try after my front tire is shot just because of the price difference. | ||

Plenty of people swear by the D208 ZRs. That's what I picked to completely replace the OE Pirelli Scorpion Syncs after my rear tire fell apart on the highway. | ||

I understand they are identical to the M1's apart from the thread pattern Incorrect, I have posted the response I received from Pirelli when I asked the question before but both profile as well as tire compound are also different. Its a net myth about them being the same tire. Now as to which tire to pick, I say go with the Pirelli Diablos. For street or even track days the regular Diablos have more than enough grip & will wear very well. I have almost 4000 miles on mine & thats with 2 track days, lots of highspeed runs, burnouts, wheelies, etc & the rear is just now starting to show signs of getting flatspotted in the center. |
