Hi everyone, has anyone been challenged by inlines and how did it go... Things appear very competitive out on any road and seem to need attention. What are your experiences with the competitive nature out there. Mine have went well my XB12s surprised me it feels slow but when engaged in side-by-side performance harmonizes at a more pleased pace than the others but of course have only ran with inline 600s, 900s, and 650s. Let me know how you all are doing.

I had my butt handed to me raw by a gixxer 600.

But that's because I can't ride and he could. I bet I was having more fun though ; ) .

Never had to race a bike. I do get those morons in the Civics with their body kits on thinking they're the fastest thing on the road though. Fun handing them their .

JC...I have a ZRX1200 in addition to my Buell. I have a simple philosophy. The ZRX has the heart, but the Buell has the "Soul." I enjoy each bike for what it is, and don't really compare them. Don't get me wrong either. The Buell is no sloutch, but a different bike with a different philosophy that does not fit into the cookie cutter mold. I will always have a Buell...and I will always have a crotch rocket of some kind...for the days I want to scare the hell out of myself.

I am in Korea right now, but I chose to bring the Buell with me for many reasons. There are not many inlines here, but lots of Harleys...all my friends ride Harleys. The guys who think they have the fast Harleys all want to try me. It is fun kicking tail with the Buell. It is like being the fastest gunfighter in town, and everyone wants to challenge you, ha ha!

Sounds like you do, but enjoy the heck out of the Buell for what it is...a wonderfully engineered bike built for fun. I really enjoy the heck out of it.

Me, Glitch and New12r were riding Hwy129 in the Blood Mountain/Neils Gap area and a Gixxer750 overtook me and Glitch in a two lane corner. Before I even saw him coming he had already passed. New12r hammered down and hung with him all the way up the mountain until the very top. The 750 was a local and a road racer with Ti knee sliders (I know this by the white sparks coming off his knee when he passed me). New12r held his own though with a busted fork seal and all, that we noticed on the way back down.

No small wonder, look at the hp numbers for a jap liter bike..... Now lead one into the twisties.

If you insist on dragracing them it may be time to consider joining them? ; )

Yeah... Don't drag race them...

Ducati 748 X2
TL1000
SV1000
Aprilia Mille
Ducati 749
'02 Yamaha R1
Porsche 911 Turbo
Hacked together Super-Moto

The only one that ever passed me was the super moto. It was a 400cc single. I couldn't keep up. I tried. It was a VERY twisty section of road (Called the Spars in Northern AZ... and I've been up and down it at least 400 times or more). All I could think was "That guy had BETTER not have KNOBBIES ?SP? on that thing!"

Once you get to a corner, the bike itself doesn't really matter too much, but that said, the XB makes cornering VERY easy and fun, and it takes FULL advantage of the engine it has. Brilliant frickin' motorcycle.

Thanks again Erik.

/EDIT

In my defence though... The Super-Moto WAS crossing the double yellow... And I refuse to... Well, most of the time... Wycked can tell you a story about a ticket I got once...

On my ZX-636R I can easily pull a neighbours 12 in drags. It's fairly even till the 12 needs it's first gear then the i4 really romps off. My 9 is not even a challenge for the Kwaka nor the 12. In the corners he is a better rider and can paste me on all three.

I have both a 01 R1 and an 03 XB9R.

I am faster on my R1 thru the same section of twisties. I do need to add that I just recently got the XB9R and I am still getting to know her. I am sure as time goes on I will pick up speed. Heck it took me a bit of time to find some good suspension settings for me. And I am having a blast tweaking with the bike, it is such an amazing bike Eric has built. It has character by the bucket load

I have had the R1 for 3+ years and 43,000 miles. I know my R1 inside and out. I love my R1 and am impressed with it every time I ride it. It is an incredible machine that i doubt I will ever sell. And the bike's design is classic.. it still turns heads....

But you know what, I also love my XB9R. I giggle and laugh under my helmet the whole time I ride it. It is so fun, engaging and unique in the way it responds, such a different feel and experience. And it too has it's own unique innovations and technology like no other bike out there. People constantly stop and go over to check it out when I park it. It definitely turns heads as well.

Their are some incredible sportbikes being made these days. What a great time to be a motorcycle enthusiast

However, in my mind there is no need to worry about judging between the metric sportbikes and the Buell because they are so different. Matter of fact, Buell markets that very point.

And at the end of the day, they both put huge smiles on my face and for different reasons... and to me that is what it is all about.

I really enjoy this bike! For the most part there are very few people that pass me, and those that do, it will probably not be because of the bike, it will be because they are a better rider than me. But they will not have a bigger grin on their face, might be equal, but not bigger

I know last year on track days on my 9S. I could pass just about everyone in the novice group by the end of the day. On the long straight away. They all had me after about 90 or so mph. I could get up to 130 or so but they where getting up to 140+. Most guys where running 600's. One guy on a Busa could not turn very well but his straight line was fast until he got scared and let out. I know that guy was doing 160 or so. I think that would scare me too. Well we are very competitive in the turns. Mostly rider vs rider. On the straights they have it. Brupska

Yea - I have a 919 that will rocket away from my XB9SX - but guess which one lives on the battery tender... I love to ride the Buell - speed is not the only priority for people who love to ride.

I get a kick out of the motorcycle.com 600 shootout that included a Sportster 1200. They had a racer on the Sporty, and he ran off from the 600's in the twisties. Just think what he could do on a Buell....
