I'm sure the guy who designed it likes it too. You and him should go out and have a beer sometime - you're probably his only fan. |

Do you mean the hugger or the tail piece ("cheese grater"? If it is the latter, my XS has the blue anodized insert, I would never consider removing it, I think it is very cool. |

I've always kind of liked it on my S. Plus it does keep some of the road debris off of my back. |

Nope you certainly aren't, I have absolutely no desire to remove mine. I do think often of getting a CF or some other solid offering to replace the strainer with, and a different shade of paint |

Mine's staying also. Love the way the XB9SX looks so there's not much that needs to be changed. BTW Court, I would sure like to talk with your friend. Hell, I'd buy. |

I'll be having steak dinner with him this Friday, and I plan on giving him props on the whole bike...even the cheese grater. |

I agree with Got1nut! My cheese grater is staying on mine but it's far from practical for us "all weather" bikers. Buell should make a solid, color matched insert to replace the grater for those who need it...or make a real hugger instead of the little plastic thing they have. |

The only things I didn't like about my XB9S were the rear fender and the stock mirrors. Both are history, now. It's not as bad as the big can hanging off the side of most sport bikes, though. It's as if they got the bike designed and built and then suddenly realized they had to put the muffler somewhere... To each his own. Good luck, Bill |

I think it's ugly, that's why I got an 'R And this is the comment that divided the Buell community. One side for the S models, the other side for the R ones. Let the civil war begin. |

"I think it's ugly, that's why I got an 'R " I would bet that isn't the reason you bought an "R". It was a fine choice, however. I am liking the CF cover. |

I like the aftermarket tail that is on American Sportbike a lot better than the stock for my R. I think the stock tail light and blinkers look cheap. |

The strainer the S model gets is required in Australia because we have a design rule that states the rear mudguard/stone deflector must protrude rearward to a specified distance to the rear point of the tyre. Same goes for the "fender eliminator" that came stock on the R model. I've had people take the model details from my bike so they can order the part for their jap bikes that come with massive snow shovels attached. I'm also saying the stock blinkers are miles ahead on looks compared to alot of other bikes on the market. At least Buell made an effort to make a legislated attachment look a little different to the giant ugly orange ears most manufacturers attach. I've had heaps of people ask for the details of the tinted lens and when I tell them thy're stock they are quite impressed. |
