Hey guys,

I'm sure this has been mentioned on the forum before but sharing it in the event anyone is interested.

American Sportbike did this exhaust comparison on every maker, with/without a race ECM; same bike, same dyno, same day. Sound, horsepower, everything.

The link is available though the Barker web page (near the bottom) if this one doesn't work.

Enjoy!

Thanks for posting that, it's nice to keep it a easy resource to find. Man, I haven't seen a CES muffler in a LONG time!LOL

All that data keeps proving that ANY aftermarket muffler with a standard Race tune is so much better than the EPA constricted OE tune, it really doesn't matter which one you choose.

Yea, that's funny.
One of the last comments..."None of these pipes were only a little bit louder than stock. They are all CONSIDERABLY louder, and some even painfully so."

I have a Barker muffler on my CR (need to get it running again). When I was driving it to work everyday, I would push it down the street, and around the corner before I started the engine. The street is much wider than my street, so I figured the sound would dissipate more, and not bother people as much at...4:30 in the morning.
No...not so much..!

I never got a "sound" ticket with it.

lol Yea I used the same technique leaving for work on a RC51 I used to own. Push it down the street and trigger the starter while coasting, try to rumble away near idle RPM.

That bike constantly caused car alarm warning chirps during normal cruising, sometimes setting them off entirely as I passed. One of the best twins I've ever felt, though. And it was all about that bass, no treble. ; ) Sounded nice and soft, only the deepest hollow thrum I've ever heard--no crackle the way many car exhausts are tuned these days, or 4 cylinder whine. I think those are more offensive even if quieter on the DB meter.

I figured that by pushing and coasting to start, if someone wakes up just a tad as a loud bike passes, they may drift back off to sleep. Whereas if its idling outside it would probably wake them all the way up. I then stopped down the road to let it warm up a bit. Always nice to maintain relations with the neighbors.

Also, I have noticed on the Buell it can sound much louder to the rider than normal bikes. Yes, they are loud aftermarkets, but I've regularly asked my neighbors and insisted not too loud. As long as not hard revving.

B.S. - They are just being polite..!
My neighbors said the same thing when I asked...I knew better..! My across the street neighbor has a Harley that's NOT as loud as my CR. When he occasionally leaves early, before too many surrounding noises, his bike shakes everyone awake. And like I said, my CR is louder..!

Attached is an exhaust shootout with dyno results. The Barker is available with two inserts. The 1 1/2" is the least restrictive and costs only 1 or 2 HP. It is not loud and very streetable. This link is to a mapped ECM with the Barker exhaust.

How many in that spread sheet are still with us making exhausts and are there any more to add since that test was done?

APH Engineering, Alan Hawkes makes a full race system using the original jigs and pipes for our other Buell machines. I have a slip-on with a tune from Jens at NCCR on my Cr, the DSB tune from IDS also fits the pipe running high octane ethanol free... great welds and one heck of a fabricator, not all his work is on the website. http://www.aph-performance-engineering.com/buell_1 125_original_full_system.html

I drove for a long time with a modified original exhaust. Performance-wise still the optimum. But just heavy and they are bummed. Now I drive the GPR after many tests. Light, well tunable by mapping and even more respectable.

Hi Conaway,
I imagine that GPR isnít quiet 🤪
Your entire bike is very well done. Iím in need of a new throttle assy and your right side switch gear is very clean mind sharing some more info about it?

My 1125 is sporting a torque hammer but I havenít heard it yet, hopefully Iíll get to run it through itís paces soon.

Thank you very much. In fact the GPR is relatively quiet. With DB eater it even has a road approval for Europe. Without DB eater the exhaust is too loud. Unfortunately like almost all accessories it lacks the volume to sound dull. Actually it sounds more like a screamer than a typical V2.
Unfortunately I do not know exactly what you mean by "right side switch gear". Would you like to explain it to me?

From what it looks like, you have a different kill switch/start button and throttle assy. compared to the usual Buell fare.

Got it ; )
Yes, i use a GSX-R clutch pump and a KTM 1290 brake pump together with some china 3 buttom kill switch on the right and a 5 buttom assembly for light, horn etc on the left.
The throttle assembly is from Domino and also designed for the KTM. It shortens the way to full throttle. I use this assembly on BKG handle bars with a EBR 1190 triple clamp.
I will upload some pictures later on.

Excellent. I switched out the brake and clutch pumps and didnít even think about it until I went to install the throttle - which the original wonít work so Iím looking for solutions. Many thanks!
