Was wondering if anyone had an unused stator nut and gasket they would like to sell.

My Wife got me the better rotor for Christmas but didn't know I needed the other parts too and I am chringing at paying 14 bucks in shipping on only 30 bucks worth of parts.

Does anyone know why shipping from EBR is so high?

If you have the nut, clean it with a wire brush and apply fresh Loctite Red 272.
Call American Sport Bike and either Al or Joanne will fix you up with a gasket, ~25bucks MSRP, IIRC.

One of the reasons I don't recommend my old employer, High Country HD/Buell is they like to sell Buell parts at +10-20% of MSRP.

They were even selling the (~500)Teflon washers I GAVE them before I worked there... at 2 bucks a pop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I almost quit over that issue.

My local is Doushe (Bruce) rossmeyer and I refuse to buy from him unless absolutely necessary, I have paid 200% msrp on some stuff from him cause I was in a pinch.... What the hell is the point of msrp at that point.

Thanks guys, didn't realize I could clean the nut up.
Will go that route and think I'll give Latus a try on the gasket

The nut has been said to be NON reusable several times on this website.

The nut DOES deform a little every time it's torqued to 300 ft-lbs.
It is good for a few times(2-4) but WILL need to be replaced after that.
I re-installed mine with the right stuff but for a customer, I would insist on a new nut...

Use the right Loctite and proper torque, replace on the 3rd or 4th time...

Just a thought but you might take that nut to a nut and bolt dealer and see if they have one. If they a re a good supplier Id bet they do.

I have been inside my stator cover more times than I care to remember (at least 6)and I only replaced the gasket twice. If you are careful and do not tear it you can definitly reuse.

If the rotor nut is on there with the original torque value you will be fine to reuse it as well. The threads will be experiencing 300ft pounds for the first time.

Just FYI - I have some vintage bikes and gaskets can be a PIA to source ...I use thread anti-seize on the gaskets...they will still seal, but wont's stick or tear...easy to remove and re-use.

Go light on the anti-seize, any that squeezes out will end up in the oil.

good points on the Nut and Gasket.

Stator was replaced once under warranty but I have no idea if they torqued it to the new updated speck, was about 2 years ago they did the work.

was trying to assemble parts first to limit down time but I may just need to pull it about first and see if I can save the gasket.

Before you try to pull the ignition cover, make some "installation dowels".
The stator(mounted to the cover) has an iron core, the magnets in the rotor are rare-earth(F'ing strong!!)

Get 4-6 6mmX130 bolts, cut the heads off and point or round them.
As you remove the cover bolts, spin the dowels in(evenly spaced).
MUCH easier to save the gasket with the dowels.

Re-assembly is easier too.
