I've had my 1125r for about a month now and becoming more comfortable with its quirks each day. Does anyone know what the latest ECM flash is to date and how I can go about checking which one I have, and where I can get it updated if needed??

You can go to a dealer and have them plug in the bike to their computer, it will tell them what calibration is on it, and if it out of date they can update it. Here is a list of the latest calibrations:

If you would like to skip the dealer, you can purchase an ECM cable from American Sport Bike, and then use TunerPro or ECMRead to check the version (will be dated November 2009 if it is the latest). If it is not the latest, there is no easy way to flash it on, as if you have a different firmware type you can't simply just flash it on yourself.

Honestly, in my opinion I wouldn't bother with any of the above, and would just get a Race ECM from EBR, it is leaps and bounds ahead of the final stock calibration.

Thanks Froggy. I'm already seriously considering the EBR Race ECM after poking around a bit. Right now the bike bucks and surges and runs ridiculously hot. I live in downtown Chicago and find myself in traffic more often than not, and gets really uncomfortable after a while.

So once I have the Race ECM, its just plug and play? No other settings or adjustments otherwise??

It is plug and play, it will run cooler, run smoother, and overall be a happier bike.

To install you need to remove six Torx size 30 screws holding the left radiator cover on, after that is off the ECM is held on by a 10mm nut, disconnect the two big connectors, pop in the race ECM and reassemble. The directions ask you to do a quick TPS reset and idle for 10 minutes, but they are not entirely necessary as it will eventually self calibrate.

Also, these bikes suck in traffic period, there is nothing you can do about that. I really recommend picking up a second bike that is more city friendly.

Congratulations on the new ride. I am just south of ya a couple hours. You can also use wetter water, that seems to help in the summer time.

Red, Thanks : ) When you say wetter water, I'm assuming you mean using a higher percentage of water to cut the coolant? If so what would you recommend? Forgive my naivety..

Oh duh ok. I'm running over to PepBoys now to grab some. Can I simply add this to the coolant expansion tank, or do I need to flush the system and start from scratch?

Regarding EBR ECM. Last Friday I rode an '09 1125R home for a friend, about 110 miles of open freeway and heavy freeway traffic. It has a FMF muffler and was told an EBR ECM. I didn't feel all that much difference. It was a little crisper below 65 mph or so. I feel my stock setup was better at higher speeds.

Traffic, thank the gods of motorcycling I live in California. The 1125 is so great at lane splitting.
