Hi guys,

I'm going to pick up this sweet little lady tomorrow am.

The recalls were handled, it theoretically has the ebr ecu... and it has this exhaust... I'm not sure what it is. Can anyone identify it?

www.antelopevalleyhd.com/default.asp?page=xPreOwne dInventoryDetail&id=364021&p=1&f=&make=&vtype=&cat =&s=Year&d=D&i=%2Fimglib%2Fnimg%2F400x200%2F2008_B uell_1125_R.jpg&l=&t=&sq=&vg=&vt=&family=&brand=&y ear=&model=&sd=&fAmtRange=&floorplan=&length=&weig ht=&lat=&lng=&miles=&sleeps=&fueltype=

Thanks =)

Yes I've never seen that either, probably a custom pipe.

I don't see any mention of a race ECM, but looks good otherwise.

I hope you are getting them to come down on that price.

ok, having seen the bike in person, the exhaust was really poorly photographed, but seems to work well, and looks good in person. It was apparently made by some shop in Burbank Ca (not far from here) . They also gave me the stock (wow, that's heavy) exhaust.

I got out of there for 6 even. It also has the chip, all recalls handled and a fender eliminator.

I was on the look out for choppy performance down low, but whoever put this together... I promise... it's fine. =)

After a lifetime of budget bikes, I've got to say WOW.

Erik Buell did not build a motorcycle. He built an American Muscle Car that only has 2 wheels.

My hands are numb. My ass is numb. My feet are numb, the bike runs hotter than hell itself. It can't compression brake. I can't see the gauges while I'm riding. The mirrors are useless.

And I didn't even try to get it up to top speed on the way home.

I'm in love.

I've prided myself for a long time on beating up on superior riders, because they chose more challenging bikes, and on my little SV650, I could just get inside them while they were busy trying to find the right gear.

While I don't think I'll have to go hunting for gears, this is not an SV-650. It doesn't just sit there, relax, and tell you to do whatever you want. This bike is humbling. It's scary. It's got so much torque, that I'm intimidated leaving the parking lot.

But I've got something to aspire to. Tomorrow I'm going to figure out how to adjust the suspension for me, and hope this makes it turn in like the mythical beast people say it is. Then I'm going to find some packer pegs (previous owner took them off) and mirrors that I can actually see out of.

But most importantly... I'm gonna ride =)

Get the mirrors adjusted where you like them. Be sure they are adjusted well. Run a small bead of silicon caulk around the edge of the glass, connecting it to the plastic housing. It will cut way down on the vibrations in your mirrors. Use black silicon, keep it neat, and no one will ever notice it.

I saw that hack, and it seemed like a good idea, but for some reason, both of mine are loose at the round pivot that connects the mirror body to the stalk. I guess if that's not a common issue, I can replace the mirrors and then give the calk a shot =)

As I have every belief these will become classic bikes, I'm hesitant to change the look very much (despite having one that has dog bite marks in the mig-like intakes)

Congrats on the Buell!
You are correct, it is not a SV650, lol! My last bike was a z750s that vibrated WAY more than my Buell beauty! Mine has the heat issue as well. Though I'm looking to wrap the exhaust and insulate the inside of the frame/fuel tank to take care of that.

If you think the 1125R is scary powerful... well, you are in for a surprise some day!

In any case, I've had an 08 since 08, and while once it was wicked hot that no longer is the case. Solved in the following order of effectiveness: Race ECM, Tech-specs frame grips (AMAZING!), inner frame insulation, ceramic coated headers. Perfection.
Firebolt mirrors work great. Supposedly the '09 1125R mirrors are good but I can't speak from personal experience.

Dean, since when have you offered a full system?

Mmm, maybe a year? Only built a couple though. It may be that they're priced fairly high, but it's a LOT of work to build one. For the price vs power gain, an RT-3 would be the better choice unless you plan on doing engine mods or you just must have one.

ok, well, I love this bike. but WOW, this exhaust is loud, like, "I want to cut the engine before getting back to my neighborhood" loud, or "Would win a contest for most annoying pipes at a modified Harley convention" loud. Seems a shame to mess with a bike that seems to run so perfectly, but I'm wondering what I can find that's a bit quieter and still will give this awesome performance.

Jbarros, could you post a picture of the exhaust and maybe a video of it running? I'd like the see/hear the custom exhaust on yours. The link posted no longer works as you've picked the bike up.

Sure, I'll try to get it up today (depending on work stuff)

It's apparently a "Robert Edwards Fattys Aggressive Machinery" exhaust, from a shop in Burbank which doesn't seem to be extant anymore.

Bike's also got the ebr ecm and a K&N, and, well, I don't have anything to compare it to, but it sure seems to run well, without any real dips in power anywhere.

The Barkers is the perfect volume with the quiet core installed.

Thanks. Now just to find a good shop to install it for me and make sure I've got the right chip, tuning, etc. etc. =) Any recommendations in Southern California?

The shop I bought the bike from said they did the service before I picked up the bike, but the service light was still on, so either a.) they're lying about the service, or b.) they're not on their game enough to remember basic things like flipping off the service indicator, (amongst other minor niggles) so either way, I'm looking for a better shop.

So are you replacing the one-off exhaust?

Yeah, I'm gonna. First I'm going to get some youtube of it though, and see if I can sell it. If anyones looking for something that's brutal, window shaking loud, and feels like a Hemi running just headers (and I KNOW there are people who want that) maybe it would be a good fit for them. It sure seems to ride right.

I'm really hesitant to part ways with a system which rides right, but I live in the suburbs and I get home late pretty often, and I just don't want to disturb my neighbors that much. (yes, I'm that RUB : ( )
