Some neat footage of the 1190 starts about 17 minutes into the video.

Some interesting hints in there. These were off the cuff comments, so they may or may not be accurate. Nobody was under oath. : )

1) Sounds like the choice for Danny to go may have been made by Danny, which is understandable. I'm sure he was a sought after rider.
2) Cory is (or was anyway) actually working for EBR as more than a rider. He is (or was) doing web work.

reep - i never got the feeling that EBR didnt want Danny and thats why he left
2 - ok.
I watched 25 minutes of the video and was done, just not enough EBR for me and when it was there, there wasnt much talk about it really.

To me, the interesting point is that West is faster than May.
Im sorry, but maybe its time for May to hang it up. He helped develop the bike and all these other guys keep coming in and are faster than he is with little time on the bike (Eslick and West, obviously).

But May is a consistent rider. EBR needs that for development.

I have great respect for Corey, Geoff and Danny. Geoff is the fastest and most consistent. The quote in the video was that Corey beat him once (which shows Corey is a good rider). That doesn't show Corey is faster than Geoff. Same with Danny, He beat Geoff a few times, but over the course of the season, Geoff is a machine for fast consistent laps.

30 years ago I spun out in a sports car where he went off at turn one. Portland International Raceway is a beautiful track.
I worked flags and communications there in the late 80's. That video was fun!

Consistency is the KEY to winning.

As noted, Geoff is a seriously consistent rider. In order to develop a winning platform, you need to remove all the variables possible. A rider who has wildly varying good and bad days, is a variable that stands in the way of developing the machine. A rock-solid rider helps pinpoint details in the machine.

A consistent machine helps make for consistent riders.

The trick is to make your machine CONSISTENTLY more potent than the competition's machines. Once you do...you consistently win races.

ok guys, yall keep hoping for May to get a win, I dont see it happening
Like I said, people keep trying the bike out and are quicker than he is on the bike HE helped develop.
I KNOW hes a really really great rider, but I dont see him putting EBR on top of the podium.

Excellent points Reep and Rat!

I had the opportunity to speak with Erik at Road America about just that. The obstacle is HP. Road America and Daytona were designed for all-out brake and squirt riders/drivers!

When you look at where Geoff finished on 04May, that was impressive considering the wear on his bike. Conversely, when you check out the race wear of Aaron's bike, and where he finished, you can analyze the different riding styles and get very detailed feedback as to what works and what does not work for an EBR bike at these types of tracks.

Both Geoff and Aaron are giving EBR the feedback they need, their bikes are doing the same, and EBR will do what it needs to do to win at all-out HP type tracks.

Don't forget one thing. EBR and Buell bikes have never had the HP over their competitors. However, they own the corners! So, HP is important, but brakes and finesse will get EBR to the podium. Remember, Erik designed our chassis'! The engine was designed for a flat curve of both HP and Torque (torque only varies 6 ft/lbs from 3k to 10.5K). ZTL was designed in house too.

As you could see from Aaron's bike after the Saturday race, Aaron doesn't rely on the slipper-clutch much

When you consider EBR's budget to the Yamaha budget, you begin to realize that deep pockets can produce wins. However, EBR 1190RS bikes from the EBR factory are essentially the same bike you race with. Ask the CEO of Yamaha if that race technology is incorporated into the street version of the R1. No way!

EBR will get better positioning at the finish line. Patience Grasshopper

Cool video, but the 1190RS makes nowhere near 200hp.

Seasons, that was the same argument I was making in the road racing section. Apparently some other members said it wasn't good enough. I completely agree with you. Road America was designed by Ferrari guys because their cars couldn't handle but could outpower the finesse cars, hence the long straightaways.

I don't recall seeing faster times than what May put down by any of the current riders.
In fact, May was the ONLY rider on any EBR to get into the 15's all weekend.

RAmerican Sport Bikerace

Geoff was also the fastest EBR mounted rider is EVERY session of the entire weekend at Daytona.

This was their fastest session:

I know, I know, how dare I come in here and try to use facts.....shame on me.

Nope not every race, but that's also not what you said, which I quoted before:

Just looking for these other people you speak of.
As it was stated, you are saying that the other people racing the EBR are faster than Geoff and, so far, that is not the case.

I was watching closely last season to see if Danny or Geoff were going to be the faster rider. I liked them both and was rooting for both of them.

It was pretty clear that while Danny had a ton of talent, and may eventually get faster than Geoff, he wasn't there last year.

Geoff was obviously the faster rider. The fact that he is so consistent makes it all the more remarkable.

We just need to get the man a few more horses to overcome the handicap the rules give the twins relative to the inline fours.

Geoff is a great rider and an cool guy to talk too, both AMA races I attended I ran into him and his wife in the parking lot. Both times my intention was to tell him good race and leave him alone, both times he ended up talking to us for a long time about the bike, details and engineering above my head, that guy is always thinking about the bike and racing and how to go faster.

That is who I would want riding for me if I was EBR
