Hi All,

Thanks in advance!

I would like to change the headlight. Possible?

I would like the rear light/blinker s to be on at all time

What are the option for the mirrors and front blinkers?

Is it well money spent to mail your ECU to Buell?

Anybody tried to do the Magpul Ronin style in a simpler version???? ; )

Thanks Guys,

Please let me know,

max

my rear blinkers are on a lot because I often forget to cancel the turn signals. I suggest you forget more than me and they will stay on all the time just like you want. Heck, just wait a few more years for the dementia to set in and you'll forget without even trying.... what was this post about now??????

From what I have read on here it is a massive improvement to get a buell race ECM. You order it from them, not send yours in to be reflashed. It replaces the stock ECM

Lots of questions ! Your profile says that you have an R, so -

do you want to change the fairing or just fit HIDS ?

The rear blinkers are LEDs - you will need to replace them with aftermarket if you want running lights - or just get some LED strips and wire them in. Either way you will need to tap in to the lighting circuit to run auxiliary lighting.

The Front mirrors can always be changed, it depends on how good your skills are. IIRC Somebody changed theirs for Firebolt ones and then wired up the pilot lights to run as blinkers. Or you could just fit separate blinkers if you changed the mirrors. Or buy different mirrors with built in blinkers ...

Yes, I have an HID kit from DDM tuning. It was $40 and a huge improvement over stock.

I would like the rear light/blinker s to be on at all time
The rear tail light should be on all the time, its a dim running light and the brake light is brighter.
If you want to have the blinkers on all the time you could splice in the running wire from the tail light, which would power all three.

What are the option for the mirrors and front blinkers?
I got bar end mirrors on ebay for $40, they look amazing and work so much better then the oem mirrors. The oem mirrors never worked well for me, as I have wide shoulders. I don't use front blinkers.

Is it well money spent to mail your ECU to Buell?
Best $250 u can spend on the buell. When I got the EBR ECM The bike ran 15 degrees cooler, I got better fuel economy, the bike was so much smoother, especially in the low RPM range. If you plan on getting an exhaust, get it before u get ur EBR ecm, because you can get an ebr ecm that is preprogrammed for your exhaust, they have them for most exhausts. (I have the FMF Apex, and love it, its sounds bad a$$ and looks amazing imo)

Anybody tried to do the Magpul Ronin style in a simpler version???? ; )
That setup would have issues long term, the front mounted radiator is a bad idea, those hoses will leak like crazy.

When I got my EBR ECM, it didn't seem that much better than stock. Bike doesn't run any cooler, same fuel economy, etc. Bike does run a little smoother, but otherwise, it seemed pretty much stock (at least with stock exhaust). Still an improvement, but you may be disappointed if you're expecting a huge difference like others have noted.

I have to go against the grain and recommend against putting HIDs in, unless you're going to do a proper retrofit (with a projector). It may be brighter, but it's not necessarily evenly distributed light, not to mention the crazy glare oncoming cars get. The kits like those from DDM tuning are illegal, and for good reason.

Baf - why the HID FUD?
dunno about the CR, it uses different bulbs than the R IIRC.
The Bulbs in the R and the HIDs I replaced my lo-beams with have the "light ball" in exactly the same size, shape and position.
That means they have exactly the same optic shape and work fine.

HID lo-beams are one of the best upgrades I've done.
To get the same light in front of my Uly, I run 4 halogens...

xblights.net will do the best taillight you can get and as for hid's id check http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php? cPath=24&products_id=227 but i don't know if they will fit. I havent gotten to take good measurements yet. Im thinking ill just go with the illegal (yes they really are, but all the hondas are doing it) DDM kit.

Just my 2 cents. i don't really know anything tho

Imblasted +1 on Xblights.com

Robert makes the BEST LED taillights for XBs and 1125s. period.
I got the first one he made for an 1125 and it still is as bright as the first time I lit it up.
I got the integrated turn clear lens with license lights at the bottom.

He used to have a pic of me on Loretta with my bro in the background on his Firebolt(my first Buell).

BAF,

I have the ddm tuning kit, the light is even and its much better then oem.

Try and aftermarket exhaust with the ebr ecm, it makes a big difference.

Thank You All for the great answers.
Will do follow a lot of your advises.

For the Headlights, sorry I was more talking about the headlights fairing ( all things ).
I would like to replace it with a modern but vintage look style headlight or with a modern but CR look style.

Another question
Is it worth it to get the Michelin Pure?
I am all about tires!

I would like to get/find or ... the Mogul style seat.. Do you know where they relocated the battery and more?

Thank You All,

Max

as for hid's id check http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php? cPath=24&products_id=227 but i don't know if they will fit. I havent gotten to take good measurements yet.

I recently contacted them and they suggested the kit based on the D2S projector as opposed to the H1 you linked to there. The D2S is shallower.

Thank you for the inquiry! Essentially what you need for your bike is a standard Morimoto Mini D2S Stage III kit with a change in harness for your bike. You will need a H8 motorcycle harness with a H8> 9006/9006 splitter for the high beams. This will give you 2 projectors that will do both low and high beam and will work correctly from your factory headlight switch.

Here is the D2S kit:

If you WANT running lights on your turn signals

Interpose a relay in the circuit so that the signals are on all the time and flash with the turns ( turn off )
2 small relays and some wiring would do it

I have a CR and i too had talked to them but they had suggested that the Mini H1 was the smallest that they made. But i think that the shallower kit would fit best in the CR housing as well. I havent gotten to take accurate measurements of my housing yet tho. I feel like id need to take the lens off in order to get the right measurements.

O well guess I have to be wrong sometimes...

okay, i was looking at the projectors again. it would make sense that the D2S kit would work better for the R and the H1 kit for the CR. the D2S is shallower but wider.

Don't be too scared about checking depth. The extra housing I got had no adhesive securing the two pieces, just a rubber gasket that gets pinched between them to seal it. You will likely be able to take it apart and measure quite easily.
