Hello everyone! As you can tell from my post count I am new to this forum and very soon a new Buell owner as well! I am upgrading from a Kawi Z750S. Had loads of fun on it, but sold it prior to deploying and now I'm itching for a new(relatively) bike. I had pushed my Z as far as I could while I had it so I've been researching the upgrade to Litre class bikes. I had been looking at the big the big 4 from Japan for a few weeks trying to figure out which one would benefit my riding style and size. I'm 6ft and 230lbs so I am a bit heavier and taller than the average rider. I happened upon Buell's 1125R on craigslist of all places and was instantly drawn to it's looks. Started doing some researching and reading reviews and found that the power the bikes makes as well as the flat torque curve was almost exactly what I had been looking for! Thought about going with the CR for a little while, but decided the R would be better as I tend to ride year round and while it's raining so the full fairing will benefit me better. Now I just have to decide which one. I've found four 08's at Barnett Harley ranging from 6999 to 7999. All with less than 5000 miles. the 08's had instrument cluster issues and got 09 clusters. 09+ clusters have a gear indicator. weeping clutch on all years. Go to service dept. and see which one has had these updates. | ||

Buell tried making more power from the stator in model years 2009 and 2010 for the r and the cr. Not everyone had problems with them. If you ride alot of traffic, you probably will have issues with the stator. With the model year 2008 for the r, they had parasitic battery drain. The fix was to always shut your engine off via the kill switch, then the ignition key. A few had ECM issues that were somehow fan related. Some have VSS (vehicle speed sensor) issues that make the mph go to zero when you're riding. You can either replace it ($20 something) or just live with it like I do. Seems to happen more in the warm weather. As mentioned, weeping clutches on all three model years. Fix is either Erik Buell Racing clutch kit or from a company in the European market. I've got the EBR one for my bike. I've ridden mine down to 28 degrees F at night coming home from work (20 mile ride). Ridden it across country with my 12 yo son, buckets of rain through Indiana, no issues...except he had a sore butt when we got to Philly cause those pillion seats aren't much for padding. Best handling bikes I've ever owned! Check out my profile. Two months ago I got my 4th one out of Kansas City, the S2T. Carb'ed bike and I averaged about 48mpg bringing it home. | ||

All right. Thanks guys. Got in the habit of shutting my bikes off with the kill switch first then turning the key off from the get go so I should have no issues there. I had already read about the clutch weeping issue and checked out the EBR site for the $99 fix so that shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the personal input on cold/wet weather riding. Luckily I live in lower Alabama so it doesn't get too cold. | ||

Congrats and welcome I got my 08, Loretta, in December of 2007. Lots of memories and 27k miles. mine. Between Loretta and a 2009 Uly, I'm well set. Post a pic ASAP, have the dealer run the VIN with H-Dnet. and check recall status. Zack | ||

I've attached a recent pic the dealer sent me. Having them check out the recalls, they're also going to service it and give a good wash before the shipping company picks it up. Now the wait is going to kill me. I don't get home on R&R until the end of Jan. Oh well, lots of time to research upgrades and accessories. .  | ||

Welcome, I am picking mine up from Barnett's today. I had a fork leak repaired under my Extended Service Plan. Barnett's Service Department is Tops for Buell Service and Customer Care. I take both my Buell 1125Rs to get serviced at Barnett H-D. Johnny, told me he sold another Buell. Well Enjoy you new Pegasus. | ||

Get case guards and a EBR ECM first and ride her a while.IMHO those are the most important upgrades.Most of the rest depend on how you ride. | ||

Oh, A just a side note, Johnny, said they were pulling it in to check all the updates and service bulletins. They are good on that, they always update mine and I never really do not have any issues with mine. Good luck. | ||

Oh the Pillion seat cover they did get for him. I did help them with that yesterday and as I picked up K.I.T.T this morning they had your bike on the stand applying all updates. | ||

Big guy, wanting a liter bike-- buy a Busa. Bullet proof, as much torque as a big Harley,aftermarket support is terrific. Can be had for very reasonable prices. My last one had 11,000k and paid 3400.00. Cruise all day leisurely and run mid tens at the strip. Free software to tune it as well. | ||

IMHO Busa's are intensely ugly. I've never like how they looked. Couple with that the fact that at least in my area the majority of the guys that ride them are poser's who'll never even come close to the bike's performance potential. They also ride like a$$holes in traffic. No thanks. | ||

Thanks for the help on the Pillion cover Tijuanajack! Sorry, but I'm gonna have to decline the generous offer of delivery to your house! lol. About to pull the trigger on some exhaust wrap and self-adhesive heat shield to keep the frame, and subsequently, fuel cooler. Anyone have a write up of removing the headers? Where's a good place to get case guards? I've only seen a couple of site's that list them. One was a very slightly taller puck, but it had narrower shoulders so that's out. | ||

Thanks General_tso. Saw those same covers on racetaylormade.com. Found some pics on here and they look good, just a little worried about durability. They look a little fragile. Anyone own a set that wants to speak up as to they're rigidity? I've found a couple of fender eliminators, the main one being a Jardine unit. I have the EBR (taylormade) case savers and they are not fragile at all. They fit like a glove as well. Very well made and from what I have seen they hold up to multiple crashes.  (Message edited by Red93stang on December 30, 2012) | ||

The case savers are good from around 70 mph to 0 mph that I know of.I went down last year at Beaver Run in PA and they didn't even rub all the way through.I don't know how many feet that was but I just put some JB weld on it for track days and use the replacement on the street.Bottom line is they work. | ||

Thanks for the info/reviews for the case covers. I'll definitely see about getting a set for her. Found a couple of threads saying the uly frame sliders will "somewhat" fit as well. Might look at getting a set and seeing how they look. | ||

Man I can't wait to roast that rear tire!!! Anyone here try the Bridgestone BT-016 Pro's? I had the BT-016's on my old bike and they gripped pretty good. Sold the bike before I could determine tread life. | ||
