Ok so I need a new rear brake Disk.
Suggestions?
I would like to be able to remove my brake caliper with the rim on the bike.
I would like to keep it under 150$

Easy to pull the caliper and leave the wheel.
Tricky but possible to pull the wheel and leave the caliper...

EBR has a disk -

Seems there's a fancy one too, try Twin Motorcycles in Holland or Dris in Austin or Al & Joanne at American Sport Bike in Glendale, Ca...

So your saying EBRs rotor has a big enough hole for a allen wrench to fit through. The rear caliper bolts are not small. Rear brakes don't last the longest for me!.

All the Buell rear disks from 2008-2010 have the access holes - XB or 1125.
Order at the HD/Buell dealer too for that matter...

Zac +1

Easiest done with rear on a stand, but you don't really need to. The rotor has holes that by design line up with caliper bolts. Just rotate wheel until they line up (one at a time) You'll need a long extension. Back bolts out through the holes. Reverse procedure to reinstall. Lemon squeezy.

Mine are safety wired so being able to remove rear wheel without removing caliper is convenient.

Ok let me rephrase this
EBR New Rear Race Rotor designed to work with chain drive set up, has holes big enough for the caliper bolts to be pulled out for removal.

When I say EBR I am not talking about Buell Stock Rotor 2008-2010!

Thanks guys

Honestly, not sure myself if the EBR disk has "the holes".
E-mail tech@ebracing.com a query.
I know the stock disk for XB/1125 for 2008-2010 has the access holes.

Pretty sure the wave rotor Twin sells has the holes also.

I still have the OEM disk, on my 3rd set of pads.
I can lock up the back tire anytime...

Yea, I'm confused too.

Doesn't look like EBR's has access holes for the caliper bolts but I bet they don't dismantle everything on a wheel change.

Like Zac said, it's tricky but it can be done (removing wheel without removing caliper). Probably easier with the EBR brake.

Once wheel is off, caliper is right in front of you.

First thought was "how did you wear out a rear brake on this bike?"

in my experiences; when removing the rear wheel on an 1125 is easier to leave the caliper installed, and take off the mudguard instead.

so i don't know why one would need to remove/service the rear caliper at a frequency that would necessitate un-inhibited acess. ...
mayhaps an allen wrech could be fabricated (heated and bent) to facilitate this specific job with a 'caliper caliper bolt hole-less rotor' such as the EBR rear rotor appears to be.

If you use the EBR rotor linked above, you MUST pull the wheel without first dropping the caliper.

The caliper access bolts are not accessable with the wheel in place using that rotor.

Thanks for clarifying that Jduger

I have two sets of rims.
First set is for track use only with racing slicks. I want the bike to have a bit more pep.

My second set is for street use only with stock rotors!

I want to keep my job changing rims easy as possible. I don't want to chance dropping the bike or damaging the brake pads wrestling the rear rim off and on.

okay, so it seems to me that the reason you started this thread is to find a better way for you to more easily change wheels.

is that correct?

spreading the brake pads before removing the wheel will help ease re-installation and prevent damage to the brake rotor and pads.
and
have you considered removing the wheel but leaving the caliper installed?
i know the manual reads to remove the caliper, but there is an easier way.

The easiest way to make a rear wheel swap more simple I know is to:

1. Use the smaller EBR Rotor
2. Leave the caliper installed
3. Chamfer the brake pads
4. Never use the rear brake. If you do, spread the pads before reinstalling the wheel.
