Ok I have 20K miles with my 1125R and only thing I've had to do were the following.

1. Speed Sensor
2. Recalls (reroute brake lines and forgot the other)
3. Clutch Kit
4. Harley Gave me an 09 cluster (shotgunning parts for speed sensor problem)
5. 09 Cluster needs to be replaced (haven't fixed yet)
6. Low Sys fuel error ( haven't fixed yet)

I love this bike best bike I've been on. So on my other board which is just a chicago area riding board. I posted about the new Buell coming out.

Everyones response seemed the same. Why would I Spend that money when I could get (insert bike) for the same price. It ranged from KTM, to Aprilia, Ducati pretty much every other manufacturer.

So my question is what will Buell have to do to "prove" itself vs its competition?

Other then previous Buell owners I don't see other people flocking to their new bikes.

Win races, press competitions, and in general get exposure.

Turn the same question around back at them, why get a (insert bike here) over an EBR? KTM, Ducati, Aprilia all have many of the same pros and cons as EBR including dealer/support network, entry cost, uniqueness, etc.

There are a lot of people out there, many of whom are Americans, who are anti-Buell and seems anti-US made. I frequent another board and there are many in there who simply hate anything American made, which includes GM, Ford, and Chrysler. These are the same people who will glorify Ducati (and their legendary reliability) but will turn around and trash-talk Buells even though they have never owned one. You can insert BMW owners in there too who believe BMW's crap don't stink no matter what but Buells? They all stink and will come apart at every stop! Once people make up their minds it's nearly impossible to change it. Just like there are people out there who refuse to eat fish because someone, somewhere, told them fish stinks and are gross! Once the mind is poisoned, it will only hear or see what it wants to see.

Buell will never be a mainstream bike. Nor should they be. EB and Co. should stick to what they know best: building sportbikes that are unique and high performance. Don't change anything, just make it better every year. Leave the mainstream bikes to H-D and Honda.

Having the ONLY 1125 racing on the local 6-race circuit (USBA - Masters of the Mountains series), I can say that a lot (but not all) of the other guys give me crap about it. My response, if I give one, is that the bike has been very dependable, I can run the course in two or three gears (instead of 5 or 6) and that the rider is not nearly as capable as the bike. The WERA board seems to be generally supportive of the EBR campaign and hopes for continued success - except the haters that you find on all forums.

And yes, I get special pleasure eating Rice and Pasta.

Watching SPEED yesterday, Scott was giving the EBR team lots of props - and that's a good thing.

sadly many "sport" riders tend to read mag reviews and spec sheets - and never ride for them selves or seek out brand owners.

The trash talk is laughable,
reading the KTM Super Dukes' spec sheet would make most riders drool, We have a member who sold his, due to difficulties with service
and various fueling issues.

The Buell / EBR is an American exotic those of us who accept this, enjoy them for what they are and don't worry about what they are not.

I have 20K on mine as well. Couple of stator problems but otherwise trouble free

My buddy, who loves Ducati, also loves my BUELL. He's ridden it a few times and always raves about the power, and comfort. He just got a panigale and thinks it is the best bike ever made. But he acknowledges it has fueling problems at low RPM, is hotter than hell to ride and now it is in the shop because of an oil warning light.

Would he consider a new EBR bike? probably not because he hears so much negative crap from the ducatista and other forums.... even though he rides with one and has ridden one that is reliable, fast, stable and trouble free... he also likes the way my bike looks!

whatever,

If EBR keeps charging in AMA Superbike they WILL sell bikes.

I'm fortunate enough to own a Duc 1198 and several Buells. I would argue that 1125 is a better all round bike and much easier to ride at all speeds from 0 to flat out. The Duc has a lot more power but is very focused, below 100mph, it's not a nice bike to ride at all. I've had the Duc for a year now and I'm still trying to get it to handle; the forks have been resprung and revalved twice and the shock has had a new spring - and I'm still not happy with it With a bit of tweaking, quite near the factory settings, my 1125 was a corner scalpel straight out of the box

How many EBR's will be at the local bike night?

If the bike is equivalent, why not get something you don't see every day?

Sprintst - that is one of the reason I purchased the Buell 1125R. Not many around

The other reason was customer service. I went to Aprilia to look at the RSV 1000 but they told me they don't do test drives and keep fluids in their bikes. Called me a month later and offered me one though....lol

MCC in Villa Park said the same thing. We don't do test drives but you can rent one. Looking at the Daytona 675 SE.

Went to Harley they said you have an M class I said. Yes I do they said fill this out and here are the keys.

I'm 32 but look 20 so I get the appearance thing. I went with my 05 GSXR 600 and said I'm looking to buy a bike today and trading this in.

I'm a car salesman so I now stereotyping, but you never know. Hence why I don't do that here at work and do prety well.

I'm lucky to work at a pro-Buell hotrod shop.
My main job is to port heads for Sportster/Buell motors.

I won't ride anything else now, I have a Uly(2009) and the first 1125(2008 R) in Colorado.

I'm a fanboi

Yep, agreed! Part of the allure of my R is that it is relatively rare. I would imagine the same goes for Ducs, Aprilia, Agusta and so on. Yes, they have their pros and cons but they are not the run of the mill Jap bike. Now, if EBR continues to do well in superbike and grabs hold of the podium and maybe strings together some wins, I can see their fan base grow by leaps and bounds. Personally, I can't wait for that to happen. They are beautiful looking bikes that appear to run very solid and dependably. I would love to have an EBR sitting next to my 08R in my garage.

I really don't hate I enjoy something about most motorcycles. The main reason I now have my 1125CR is the fire sale but the reason I went to Buell was when I rode the City X I never felt a bike that was more FUN in my life!!! YES I said felt not only rode I could not find one so I bought the xb12ss and never ever looked back!!!! I now find myself comparing every bike I look at with " it's nice but my Buell has or does...."
