And where and what did you get? I'm about 215lbs in gear, not doing track days and looking for a more civil ride on usual real world back roads. Well familiar with adjusting the stock set-up (2009 CR) and still feel the need to soften it up a bit.

Duph, I just rode an '09 CR in the backroads. I weigh 185 lbs. The bike was perfect and even on less than smooth roads. It had the perfect combination of firmness, control, and compliance. I figure anything softer and you would feel some wallowing or too much dive.

Compared to my '08 R, the '09 CR was a couch! Having said that, you can really flick the R into a corner and it settles NOW!

I know it's a great handler, just looking to take a little bit of the stiffness down, like about 10-15% softer spring would do it. I'm getting old I fear.

The early models have a 100 spring, the later one 95. Over the winter I rebuilt the front forks, and installed 92 springs, it works very well. The springs have been made for me.

Who made the springs, and what oil weight? And if I may ask what do you weigh?

edit-just read your profile, I see you are in Germany, might be a shipping problem $$.

Just wondering which tires you're running. Some tires do have a softer carcass than others, which might help a little bit.

I've been through quite a few different tires, currently on the Bridgestone 023's which give a noticeably softer feel then the Dunlop Roadsmart previous. Good point though.

I'm about to check with RaceTech, they list the stock fork spring as .990 kg/mm and offer .90 and .95,(they also lump the 2008 and 2009 together) and for the shock they say stock is 9.0 and offer 8.5 so I'll talk to them now that I found them.

The front fork has been revised by a specialist (Ohlins).
What he took for an oil I can not tell you, I weigh about as easy as you. Go to a specialist, which adjusts the front fork.

Mr. Duck
go here ..an old thread - scroll down for pix and P/Ns ( rear shock)( I weight 195 in my B'day suit)

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/618487.html?1302479534

front forks - you need to build a spring compressor ("s" hooks and 2 ratcheting tie downs and a big screw driver to simulate the axle) pull the cartridge out - there is a pre-load spacer ( steel tube) - you can cut it ( not much!) - in an old thread there was reference to the master - who sez that you could cut off 5/16" for lighter riders...the less pre load the softer the ride...I left mine alone and changed to 7wt fork oil...(red line's 5wt)...I think you'll need 3 bottles if you want to adjust the oil ht, (2) bottles (1) in each leg if you want to experiment.

good luck

I was thinking that Dunlops and Bridgestones tend to have a pretty stiff carcass, compared to Pirellis and Michelins. That adds to a bit of perceived stiffness in the suspension. I'm wondering if you're longing for the feel of a more compliant tire like you had before.

Tbandit has a point; tires are a starting point that should not be ignored....Dave Moss was good enough to come to one of our club meetings ...here's a link about tires, Dave has the philosophy that the bike should do the work not you:

You could lower the oil level. That should give a softer ride.

I go about 200 in riding gear. 09 CR. I run 2 weight ranges light (per the owners manual) and I love it. OEM front tire (Pirelli), replacement ContiMotion rear, once that burns off I'll be ready for a set and will go with PR3's.

Part of my "fork kit" is a ratchet strap and an 8" piece of bicycle inner tube(keeps the threads from eating the strap) running the strap thru the axle hole.
About 1 inch of each hook is cut off to make it easier to get into the tube. Works great.

My buddy went one lighter from Racetech and they are much lighter. Be careful. Racetech is notorious for being lighter than labeled. I went traxxion dynamics on a few other bikes but not the 1125. Always happy with their work.
