Author Message   Torquehd Posted on Saturday, April 21, 2012 - 09:56 pm:        Installed my new Barker with the 1.5" core (and I still have to wear earplugs, this thing beats my eardrums). Retained the EBR ECM for stock exhaust as I wasn't ready to spend another $300 until I tried it out this way. There is a major loss of low-mid range power. From all the dyno sheets floating around American Sport Bike and Barker's website, I expected no loss in bottom end, but I am sadly disappointed. Anyone running the correct EBR ECM, is it worth another $300 or should I just go back to stock? I want power, not noise.   D_adams Posted on Saturday, April 21, 2012 - 10:16 pm:        If it's been less than one year since you bought the race ecm, they will re-flash it for a lower amount, if it's over one year, it's a bit over $100 to reflash, not $300.   Thefleshrocket Posted on Saturday, April 21, 2012 - 10:29 pm:        Oh, prices on reflashes have gone up? Around the time I bought my ECM, it was ~$25 for a reflash. I haven't had my stock exhaust on since I got my Barker quite a bit more than a year ago, and I honestly don't recally what sort of seat-of-the-pants difference in power there was. It sure as hell was a lot louder, though, and the quiet core doesn't seem to do a whole lot for it--I took mine out. Depending on what EBR wants to reflash your ECM, you might be better off selling your stock-tuned EBR ECM (gotta be worth at least $250) and then buying the Barker EBR ECM. Or maybe you can find a Bueller near you with a Barker and an EBR ECM that would be willing to let yuo try it out on your bike for a few miles to see how it rides.   Jaredc01 Posted on Saturday, April 21, 2012 - 10:31 pm:        I might be tempted in the stock exhaust ECM if you decide to go that route...   Phlegm Posted on Saturday, April 21, 2012 - 10:42 pm:        I just had my ecm reflashed. It cost me 35 dollars and 3 weeks of waiting. I bought the bike used and it came with a stock pipe ebr ecm. I also have a barkers and it kicks ass. I must be half deaf already cause I had to pull the quiet core to hear it over some of the harleys I ride with. Yes it is worth it. Only thing you have to get use to is the lack of engine braking. I reset the TPS when i initially installed the EBR unit. alright... i may have to order another ecm, and compare the combinations on a dyno to get some real numbers. RHard, i see you listed Cycle Connection as your dealership. I'm from Joplin and worked there for 4 years. I ordered mine with the reduced engine braking disabled, but it came with the reduced engine braking. I hated it so much that I would without a doubt choose the stock ECM with engine braking over the EBR with reduced engine braking. If you don't like the reduced engine braking, send the ECM back and request that EBR turn the engine braking back on. I initially didn't like the reduced engine braking but now don't find it an issue at all. There is no loss of mid-range power and the thing pulls like a school boy. Get the EBR ecm and enjoy riding it!!!!!!!!!! I am glad I spent the extra dollars (NZ dollar and taxes add an extra 20% on US price).
