So I went out for a ride on Monday and rode for about 150 miles, when i first stopped to get gas I could hear both fans running, but as soon as I went to turn it on the left one would never kick on. Anyone ever have this type of issue? I went through some of the manual and it looks like the fan is run through the ecm and was just seeing if I could get any before I go crazy with this. Thanks for any responses |

They do not always run at the same time. It is part of the programming. I would not worry, unless it is overheating. Even then, the ECM can go into a skip spark program to help prevent damage from overheating. |

Mine failed last season. Hal's replaced the left fan AND the ECM. Warranty work...about $800 worth IIRC. |

I know they kick on at different times, but the left one isn't engaging at all, which seems to be having the temps go up quicker.... This sounds like a fun little project, thanks for the responses though. |

What are your temps? Can you see anything physically blocking the fans? Put 12V across the fan and see if it spins. If the fans spins, its wiring or ECM, if it doesn't spin, its the fan. |

I was running in the 180's and could not get down from there on one fan and town riding. Caused the overflow to burp, so I had a puddle. Tried the 12vdc to the fan and it would not spin, so I thought the fan only was dead. BUT, I also had a CAN handshake error, so Hal's replaced the ECM too. Different reflash than old ECM, so the 3K rpm around town in 3rd is a lot smoother. |

IIRC the ECM controls the GROUND to the fans, so supplying +12v won't do anything. Unplug the fan and try +/- to the fan from a battery. Given the wiring issues I've seen and heard of, I would suspect that before a faulty ECM. Z |

Thanks again for the responses, I did notice the temps would get hot very quick, close to 200 at stops after a ride (give or take) but I pulled everything and it looks like some of the connectors failed to stay locked in, so it looks zip-ties will be put in place. crazy that the lock on the connectors failed, but oh well. Thanks again! |
