Sigh. The first post is clear and unambiguous in identifying two specific items that are needed. Let's summarize the "host" of options that have been recommended and how the options have played out: * Ask for them in "small quantities" from the distributor at sumitomoconnector.com. They don't stock the hard to find connector. To get it, they want a minimum standard order of 10,000 units. Yeah, right. * Buy different connectors. Not helpful. * Stock up on the wrong part via ebay. The right part isn't even listed as of today. I just checked. * Buy the Female part at a reasonable price. * Buy a cigarette lighter kit for $15 to get the Male connector, and throw away $12 to obtain a $3 part. This might work OK for a single unit, but the waste becomes prohibitive when you're looking for multiple units. * Buy the parts from a Buell dealer. I haven't actually tried this yet -- maybe I'm making a mistake in believing the other other people who claim to have tried it and said that the parts can't be purchased over the counter. update: sumitomoconnector.com sucks. see above. Bandit I can solve half of your equation... The dummy plug in the existing socket can be converted to a male connector. Think I found it in a Uly post on this site from a few years back. Think you have to order a couple of pins and a couple of rubber grommets - the rest is already contained in the dummy plug. I know it works because I used it to build a cigarette lighter socket for mine that way. Only helps if you are building one circuit but sounds like you have ideas on creating multiples. I'll comb through and see if I can find that reference and if I can remember where I bought the pins/grommets. Possible they may carry the other items you are after too. |

Thanks for the tip. I've already used up my dummy plug, that's why I need both the male and female connectors. If you can find any helpful info I'd appreciate it. summitomoconnector.com is not at all helpful. To get the hard to find part, they wanted me to place a standard order of 10,000 units. |

What connectors are you talking about? Sounded like the cigarette lighter type, also called accessory outlets. I have no idea what an accessory connector is. If you can't find matches for the existing hardware, then use what's available and replace the existing hardware with it too. Am I missing something? You've yet to share what it is exactly that you are trying to accomplish. Lots of smart experienced folks here might offer better ideas if you could do that. |

Did a quick search through the Parts manual and some old archives here and think I found all the part numbers. Latus HD looks like they have the pieces for the bike side plug but not the dummy plug. www.kutterharleyonline.com looks like they have everything but the website doesn't explicitly say if they are all in stock. At any rate when I keyed in the following numbers I came up with a grand total $4.85 before tax. Y0170.5A8 (dummy plug body) Y0226.1AK (bike side plug receiver) Y0228.1AK (socket for bike side receiver - 2 Req'd) 72099-06 (wire seals for dummy plug - 2 Req'd) 73190-96 (wire terminals for dummy plug - 2 Req'd) |

Wow Timebandit...sorry we are all trying to help you. Glad you are so frustrated with our help. I don't understand your end game. I realize what you are TRYING to do, but you yourself are saying it is impossible to meet ALL of your criteria. You have PLENTY of viable options, none meet exactly what you want so you will have to do your own trade-off analysis and make the best decision for you. I would search Ebay for a used wiring harness. It would have an assortment of connectors for you. Or, call EBR. They make race harnesses, maybe they can help you with a connector or 2. Whatever you do, curb your attitude towards those TRYING to help you. ac |

Bandit, BTW - I used to buy OEM parts on line from a Harley dealer in your metro area but can't seem to find the part search function on their page. They list thousands of parts on line but no way to search for them that I could find. If you are close to their brick and mortar, then that may be an option for you as well. |

"What I need for the application is an exact plug-compatible match to the OEM Buell connectors. I need to unplug the original M/F Buell connectors and interpose a circuit between the existing connectors. This requires an M/F set of OEM-type Buell connectors. Nothing else will work. " Why? I can understand not wanting to molest the factory harness to protect your warranty. However, the accessory is normally "empty". So you could use a factory style plug (like converting the blank provided or a cannibalizing Uly cigarette lighter adapter) and then go to metripack or anything else you like for the other side. Provided you don't chop the factory accessory plug off, whatever you do can simply be removed and the wire harness returned to stock for any warranty work. ac |

Which is what I did in my case as my soldering skills aren't great. I have all my accessories spliced onto the one power cord, and it takes only a minute for me to disconnect it and return to bone stock for troubleshooting or warranty purposes. |

Really? I figured you'd grafted a small fusion generator in there to power your toys...

Thanks. I had already checked with Jim at the Beaver before starting this thread. He does carry Sumitomo TS-type sealed connectors, just not the type that are used on Buell accessory circuits. He sells 2-pin TS connectors WITHOUT the indexing slots on the side. He sells 4-pin TS connectors WITH the indexing slots on the side. What we need are the 2-pin connectors WITH the indexing slots on the side. He doesn't carry those. I just emailed Jim to let him know about the Buell problem, and that there is a lot of possible pent-up demand from Buellers for this part. Perhaps if other people contacted him and asked for the same parts it would indicate that there is enough demand to make stocking the parts worthwhile. Jim at easternbeaver dot com. |

Well, maybe we could get him interested if enough Buellers sent him an email and asked him to stock the following part numbers: Sumitomo 6188-0047 (male) Sumitomo 6189-0100 (female) Jim at easternbeaver dot com |

Email dispatched. If he has them, I will order a few along with some stator connectors for my RR install. ac |
