anyone else have issues with s#!t clogging up their injectors? I cleaned mine for the eleventeenth time today and i purged some fuel from the line into a soda can (by cycling the key) and there was a bunch of sediment in it... let me backtrack for a second... i bought this bike pre-owned from a 'former' buell dealership (Laconia Harley-Davidson Buell)and when i got it home, it was running on one cylinder... they took it back and 1 month later, 'fixed' it. turns out one of the injectors was clogged... bike ran well for about a week before it slowly started giving me endless problems... never could figure out what was quite wrong with it until i decided to try cleaning the injectors... problem solved (well, for a week or so at least.) so i have been cleaning my injectors weekly until today. i was researching other posts on here to see if there was a fuel filter in the tank, and when i realized there wasnt, i decided to add my own... I was not looking forward to cutting the stock fuel line, but it wasnt bad at all... it cut really easy and slipped over the barbs on the filter nicely. Only thing i should have done diffrently was grab the correct size hose clamps, lol Auto Zone sells the fi hose clamps and a universal clear fuel filter that works great for a grant total of 5.48. now i can pull my seat off and see the filter and hopefully not have to clean those injectors anymore. | ||

30,000 miles combined on two 1125s, and 50,000 miles on a XB, never had an injector clog. Good luck with your filter, hopefully you can figure out the cause, hopefully it isn't something the previous owner did. | ||

yeah, kinda sux the fuel's in the frame, makes it hard to flush it out... i did eye-ball the set of chain-falls in the garage, lol... i dont know that its the best, but i try to only fill up at shell stations, but i tend to agree with the previous comment thing, im wondering if someone tampered with it before i got it | ||

As much trouble as it would be, it sounds like it might be worth flushing the tank out. There's obviously crap in there that's coming out a little bit at a time (through your fuel pump, I'd add - that can't be good for it!) I've got nearly 30k miles on my 1125R & have never had any issues with running or fueling. If I had a bike doing what yours was, I'd pull the fuel pump & flush the tank out completely. Just be careful where you do it - blowing yourself up would not be an optimal solution.  | ||

I too have suffered blocked injectors, so have a few others, mines been fine since replacing them for the newer style. | ||

I think I've got it figured out now. This is the difference between "low" and "hi" test fuel. | ||

I have 14K miles on my CR, I buy nothing but premium. If the bike loses its clean snap starting ability or runs rough for even a moment I put 1/2 a bottle gumout fuel injector cleaner in the tank. IDK about your area but this is the time of year when 'winter blends' make their way to the pumps. winter blends really like fuel injector cleaner. | ||

There is a drain bolt on the fuel tank/ frame! Its a gold allen head on the back left of the frame if you are sitting on the bike. You are supposed to change out the o-ring on the drain bolt, I would at least put locktite on it when reinstalling. |
